Ah yes, the days when batshit was so rapidly spewing from his mouth that I could early remember what he said the week prior.

Dell Boss N1 questions (lemmy.sdf.org)
submitted 1 week ago by [email protected] to c/[email protected]

I've recently picked up an Intel P4000 and I'm purchasing some parts to set it up. Since it's an older platform, I get that there are some limitations on what I can use, so I'm worried about buying things that aren't compatible.

I'm interested in installing a Dell Boss N1 Monolithic to run Proxmox in RAID1, but have some concerns:

  • Will it even work with my system board? Maybe my search skills suck, but I can't glean from the Internet how tightly controlled Server hardware ecosystems are. Would my mb even recognize a component like this, or the drives installed on it?

  • What drives work with it? According to the user manual, there are only three supported drives, and they have to be 480gb or 960gb in size. Had anyone tested using different NVMe M.2 drives?

Yay, Biden isn't at risk of losing your vote. Unfortunately, this isn't at all remarkable. He is, however, at risk of losing independents who are/were leaning towards him.

This isn't a big deal in places like Indiana or Maryland, but it's a huge fucking deal in the handful of battleground states where the undecided voters will decide it for all of us.

The Vote Blue No Matter Who strategy is literally the dumbest shit and a losing one. It only targets people who are considering a protest vote, and not people who are genuinely trying to figure out who to vote for. It assumes that everyone sees the situation as clearly as you do, and that the only thing preventing a victory is if enough people don't "fall in line".

I will always maintain that blaming the electorate in an election for getting a bad result is like saying that the fans lost the ball game.

The Man Who Never Took Anything Seriously

That was not the legal issue of the case, though. Campaigns have to be very transparent with how they spend contributions, for obvious reasons, and it was easy to prove that this appropriation was obfuscated.

One of the first things I noticed when I asked ChatGPT to write some terraform for me a year ago was that it uses modules that don't exist.

Offer them something better. They support Trump because he makes them feel:

  1. Smart for cutting through all the lies to get to the truth.
  2. Part of something bigger than themselves.
  3. Victimized/marginalized (few things are more empowering than being wronged).

The opposition has to overcome these powerful emotions. Currently, they are kinda banking on a decisive victory in court. That might be enough to dispel some of the enchanted, but will only encourage the most fervent. Worse, if it doesn't get him locked up or disqualify him from running, it's going to increase his power.

The best way to fight it is with a candidate that can beat him. I hope Biden is capable of pulling it off a second time.

Besides Trump himself, there are systemic issues that we should be fighting over. The electoral collage system is a huge problem that isn't going away. 2000 and 2016 elections won by candidates with fewer votes.

Gerrymandering is also a big reason why he has as much support as he enjoys. Honestly, I might not care as much if he were president if Congress and State legislatures weren't so out of wack with our population distributions. Representative government my ass. Land is straight up voting and it should piss us all off way more.

I would encourage you to do some experimenting in virtual machines before making a move on your hardware. I'm not familiar with Windows tools in this regard, but something like VirtualBox allows you to go through the installation process and test out configuration options without risking breaking your bootloader, etc.

I don't have a certain answer to your first question, but I've had great gaming experiences on both Arch and Debian. One of the biggest advantages to Arch is the wiki, which you will probably find yourself using no matter which distro you end up on, as it has good documentation for a lot of different applications.

Ubuntu is a fine choice if a distro, but I wouldn't assume that there is greater application compatibility with Windows. Portability has way more to with the application than with the OS, so if there are certain applications you cannot do without, you need to start researching their Linux compatibility. There is also a compatibility layer you may have heard about already called Wine, so look into that, too.

AMD has better open source driver support with it's hardware than Nvidia. I don't know so the details on this, but if you have an AMD GPU, that is generally more desirable at this time.

I would encourage you to try out all the most popular distros in VirtualBox, and go from there.

Control where? How? What staff? You don't seem to grasp the most basic of fedi-premises.

This is not and never will be "user-centric" in the neoliberal sense. What of the admins control? What of their time, money, and effort spent to host the instance. What of the risks they take?

Did you even miss the part where you can host an instance yourself, if you can't find one that caters to your desires?

It would be my own personal link aggregation space that's not just my profile. I am one of those neckbearded Reddit refugees who sometimes doesn't play well with others. Am I just being bitchy?
