That would be great, I continued to try with cURL and then a client called lasim, but nothing worked sadly. Don't forget to remove your pw!

Jumping on this to see if we can help each other out. I tried the lemmy Migrator and while Export works just fin, I get the following response when I Import, not only in DRY RUN Mode:

*** DRY RUN enabled, no changes will be made ***

[ Getting Main Account info - https://feddit.ch ] Logged into https://feddit.ch. Traceback (most recent call last): File "/home/{user}/lemmy_migrate/lemmy_migrate/lemmy_migrate.py", line 175, in main() File "/home/{user}/lemmy_migrate/lemmy_migrate/lemmy_migrate.py", line 148, in main sync_subscriptions(None, main_lemming, comms_backup) TypeError: sync_subscriptions() missing 1 required positional argument: 'excld_comms'

Also, when I try to use the Account Settings Export via the API, I use this:

curl -v -X GET -u usrname:pwd https://feddit.ch/api/v3/user/export_settings > exp.txt

I get the following Output: {"error":"incorrect_login"}

If anyone could help it would be amazing, I would be sad to lose it all. My AI of choice wasn't any help btw, but my skills aren't great with those things so...

Thanks for your reply! I looked into it and #3976 seems to be pretty much that because the "import" part of it was shot down.

I could create an issue for specifically gdpr style exports tho.

There NEEDS to be an account migration option, with not only settings but also my saved posts and comments, own posts and comments etc. If not possible, at least allow an export in the style of a gddpr dump from the likes of facebook etc. to allow import at a later time when implemented.

My instance is shutting down at the end of the month (~500 users) and there is no good way to export my data. I would not be surprised if some of the 500 get frustrated and stop with lemmy.

I am going to hop on this post to ask, if anyone has used a linux tablet for school? I am studying and have some regular classes like Math where I want to use a tablrt instead of paper. Some classmates have iPads and while there is some great software available, I would prefer something FOSS. Pine64 have tablets. Did anybode use them for thungs like pdf markups and math equation drawing? As it is my education and I havent been able to find an equivelantly good software I almost want to cave and by a shitpad so I can stop breaking my back with huge books for wich epubs are available.

I hope they loose this lawsuit and set a precedent that Samsung also has to follow. At least Samsung gives you the choice between onedrive and Google, but still no choice for generic WebDav...

Should probably start out with the colour mixing one. That was very helpfull for me to figure out public key cryptography. The difficulty comes in when they feel like you are treating them like toddlers so they start behaving more like toddlers. (Which they are 99% if the time)

As someone who has shoped in the us but lives in europe, that only applies to the us. Self checkout is objectively bad in the us. Here, it is actually pretty good. The only anti theft mechanism is a random check wich happens like once a year to me, no weighing bs. Especially, if you use the option to scan while shopping with your phone or scanner device. Then you just pay in the app and leave, no hastle at the cash register.

I don't know if this is the case in all countries or just some. If I were you (and if its legal) I would stick with your american bank accounts and just move some money to a new one in the countrey of residence. That way, you can accept paychecks and pay bills in that country, but you only have to create one account. Even that is a pain because you have to sign 10 different forms authorising the us gov. to do this and that with your bank accounts.

That is so ai generated. What model was that? It is actually quite bad.

Thanks! I will look into those. I don't know why I didn't try searching for that string myself 🤦

I just came here to say fuck the US Securities Act of 1933. I am sure it must have some very important reason for existing, but at the moment it is preventing me from doing anything reasonable with my money.

In all seriousness, though, does any US Person who has lived abroad somewhat long term have any experience doing money business in the country of residence?

Specifically, I am trying to put some money (15K) aside for further education in about 7–10 years, and I am looking for an option to at least keep inflation at bay. Every option I look at from a Swiss bank has a clause in the fine print, blaming the US Securities Act of 1933 for not allowing any US Persons to even look at or distribute the document. Archive.org

Is my only option to invest in American banks? I just worry that it will complicate Taxes to a painful degree. I would appreciate any hints in the right direction

I got a Tello Drone and live in Switzerland. Here, almost the same drone rules apply as in the EU, including the CE Number Rule. I want to fly it legally, mainly so my insurance will cover any damages in the (unlikely) case of an accident.

The problem is, I can't seem to find the CE Number on any part of the drone or packaging. I even pried off the white top cover, underneath which all the regulatory info is written, but I can't seem to find the logo anywhere.

Can anybody give me a hint where to find it? I am worried, I got a drone without the number, in which case I can't fly it. (Purchased on Amazon DE, in case it helps)

This song is stuck in my head, it goes "oh, my, god", each word sang slowly with pauses in between by a deep-ish male voice. The tune and rythm are funky. It could be 90's, but also up to 2015. I am not sure of the age though.

Edit: Found it: Low Rider by War. Explanation in comments.
