@[email protected] unless I misunderstood what you asked, you don’t really use it "as a server for Mastodon", you use it "as an alternative server for ActivityPub that is compatible with Mastodon and other Fediverse clients / servers". Which means, it has its benefits (light, written in C, BSD oriented, etc) but also may have a few drawbacks; I can’t list them but think about missing features (compared to Mastodon) and/or compatibility issues with some other software.
