I quit after the first episode when I realized it's not really based on Tolkien's work and it wasn't going to be a novel and unique concept.
I agree The Silmarillion is rather dry and somewhat convoluted. But the main story offers a lot of potential for epic story telling. Setting the story in Numenor could also offer a lot of potential.
Interesting to see that the director was the writer for a horror game called Amanda the Adventurer.
First time I've heard of it, but turns out it has ~5K reviews with an "Overwhelmingly Positive" rating. Not bad at all.
