@Varyk Ah sorry, just read the full post. This would fall into time wonkiness, so probably isn't of interest for this.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 months ago (2 children)

@Varyk How short a time are we talking?

This one might be a bit of a cheat, but: The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton. Technically everything happens within a day.

I have been using Storygraph for a couple of years now and really like it. Exported my Goodreads data and imported it into Storygraph. There was some cleanup I had to do, as Goodreads was often missing start / end dates for reading history.

What I really like about Storygraph is that it's not bloated the way that Goodreads is. The interface is clean and fairly easy to navigate and it has very few unwanted features. The stats are cool too. https://app.thestorygraph.com/stats/hybridhavoc?year=2024

@Adderbox76 @Mothra Love the Death Gate Cycle, would also recommend it. It feels a bit like the prototype for Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere.

@Aviandelight @Mothra This is a great series. I recently did a re-read and it still holds up.

@GunnarRunnar oh then yeah, don't ask questions you don't want the answer to.

@GunnarRunnar to be fair, the OP is not the one that asked for an explanation.

I think they were more comparing the userbase of Mastodon against its corporate-owned alternatives, not to other fediverse apps.

And if you're interested, you can pick up Assassin's Apprentice, Royal Assassin, and Assassin's Quest audiobooks on Chirp Books for $4 or less each.

@jay91 Group support appears to be in the works. In the mean-time, people on Mastodon can still follow group accounts and those group accounts will boost posts into their followers' feeds. For example, that's how I saw this post to reply to.

We Don't Talk Like That Uno

Because I just saw the original song referenced in a toot, I thought I would share again the #WheelOfTime parody song, We Don't Talk Like That Uno, from this year's WoT Idol. This was one of my favorites.

Techdirt Podcast 354 - Yoel Roth joins to discuss content moderation on decentralized platforms

Yoel Roth is the former head of Trust & Safety at Twitter and now a Tech Policy Fellow at UC Berkeley. This episode does a pretty good job, I think, of pointing out the strengths and challenges of moderation on the fediverse and other decentralized systems. Great listen for anyone interested in this sort of stuff.
