M-x set-background-color works for me.
Probably there's a way to automatically activate it when entering into Eat.

The dragging also works here on windows with emacs 27.1 where tramp default method is set to plink (with putty's plink.exe in windows executable path
M-x narrow-to-region ? (maybe not, I'm not at a computer now)
