Cat6a is reasonably priced. But you can run 10Gb on cat5e if needed in future.

I’d probably run some internal fibre for networking servers etc.

Probably hardwire zigbee into all light switches and see if there is a way to have energy monitoring (normally WiFi) on ALL power sockets!

Dude Im excited for you but I’m getting 12ms ping - 600Mbps DOWN - 500Mbps UP on [wifi 5] & the hardware cost £30 - TP-Link TL-WA1201 just hardwired 3x together via Ethernet for less than £100 😎

If you take it and install UNRAID or your own choice of Linux server it should be safe. If you’re super worried just block it from the internet.
