It's a new 2bay desktop TS-264. QNAP's recommended operating temp is 0-40°C (32-104°F).
Am I taking a risk running close to 40°C; it could get that high if furnace runs for a long time. Are the temp swings a problem (it's generally cooler than the rest of the house down there when furnace is off).
Any advice, tips, experiences please?

To confirm my understating: it would be fine to have two switches in my home setup, yes? (Not worried about fractions of milliseconds at all). One switch in the basement, for 3 devices, and connected directly to the router via the cat 6.
And a second switch on the main floor, for 6 devices, also connected directly to the router.
