This article told me little to nothing, so I went looking and bleeping computer says it they aren't listing the devices for security reasons. Guessing hikivision or dahua oem but who knows.

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/new-botnet-malware-exploits-two-zero-days-to-infect-nvrs-and-routers/Akamai's

Quotes from this article:

"Akamai's Security Intelligence Response Team (SIRT) first discovered the botnet in October 2023, noticing unusual activity on a rarely used TCP port targeting their honeypots."

And

"targeted devices were linked to a specific NVR manufacturer, not named in the report for security reasons"

Out of curiosity, how many magazines do you subscribe or have you subscribed to on Google news?

My feeling is that real or digital magazines are as useful as their newspaper counterpart but I don't want that either. A web page with content is perfectly acceptable for the same purpose.

And if he said "well there are lots of different types of governments and we can all work together" or some non answer then the headlines would be "biden refuses to call him a dictator". It's a no win so the best course was to say it and smooth it over later because maybe it signals they can both be truthful.

Lots of good came out of this meeting overall in my opinion.

I actually read about 50% of it, but something about the writing style was not working for me and I was focused more on how it was written than what was written. Stopped reading it. I actually like the movie and wanted the details only a book can provide.

Anyway maybe not relevant to you but if I don't like it, I don't read it. Too many other things to enjoy rather than trudging through something I don't.

Not sophisticated. Reminder once a month to see how many photos I took. If it's all random dog photos or pictures of things to remember the I ignore it. If it's quality life events then I just download the new set and add it to my backup.

I used to get caught up with automation but sometimes it just takes 5 minutes to do something and I'm fine with it.

I used to use it for shopping lists, but then one day assistant said it had moved. I couldn't find it, instructions were unclear so I gave up on shopping lists and keep.

I've been burned many times by Google since then, and they've taken me from a customer with a lot of Google products and services to only a backup email account and that's about it.

It's one thing to switch yourself but if you have family doing it too, especially nontechnical - let them choose their own thing.

Download backups, host them if you want but you need their trust in self hosted solutions when it counts. Photos is not the hill to die in.... in my opinion.

Agreed. Google photos is great in a lot of ways. I self host a lot of things but still choose Google photos because it's great at what it does.

I have backups to switch at a moments notice but the trick is to make your life easier, reliable and consistent.

I'm using Open Media Server on a PC. Docker for Plex and a DAS for data storage. It isn't simple but it's not hard and it's been stable and easy to use after you figure out setup and get used to where things are in menus. It's basically a nas with docker albeit a little slower because it's USB storage.

Agreed. He's very monotone and I don't think his mic is very good. I like the content, not trying to tear someone down but he's not a small channel anymore. Wish the production value was a bit higher to engage us more. I want to watch every video but I only watch the ones that I really want to know more about, for this reason.

I have other financial priorities at the moment so most streaming services are a want and not a need even if I love watching sports. The price is not low enough to buy it because I enjoy it and can justify it. Maybe I'll budget for it next year.

Baseball was the same way but luckily YES network did streaming for baseball and I was able to watch the games at a price I felt was reasonable. Also I only subscribed for the season, well technically not the whole season because the Yankees were killing me. That's part of the deal only streaming 1 team. I couldn't watch any other team so why stay subbed?

I was subscribed to paramount+ for Star Trek, and occasionally I'd pause to catch Easter eggs or read something on the screen, get a better look at a ship, etc - but all I could see was a shirtless man selling me old spice. It was actually really frustrating.
