The Antonov AN-26 is a twin-engine turboprop military transport aircraft developed by the Antonov Design Bureau in the Soviet Union. It is widely used by the Ukrainian Air Force and other nations for various roles, including cargo transport, troop carrying, medical evacuation, and paratroop drops. The aircraft can carry up to 40 passengers or about 5,500 kg of cargo. It features a rear cargo ramp for loading and unloading, making it suitable for delivering supplies to remote locations or air-dropping materials in conflict zones.

The AN-26 is known for its ruggedness and versatility, capable of operating from unpaved runways. Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine in 2014 and more recently during the 2022 Russian invasion, the AN-26 has been involved in logistical support, transporting troops and supplies to areas of conflict. Several of these aircraft have been lost due to combat operations or accidents during the ongoing war.

Despite its age, the AN-26 remains a valuable asset for Ukraine, providing essential air transport capabilities under challenging conditions.

tl;dr:

Donald Trump’s campaign accidentally used an image of the country of Georgia in a digital ad intended for voters in the U.S. state of Georgia. The ad featured a scenic backdrop of vast mountain ranges, which online users quickly identified as the Caucasus Mountains from the European nation, rather than any landscape found in the U.S. The ad urged Georgia voters to check their voter registration status, with a message from Trump emphasizing how crucial their votes were in the upcoming election.

“ATTENTION GEORGIA: I’m humbly asking you to stop what you’re doing and check your voter registration status,” the ad stated. However, instead of highlighting the battleground state, the image depicted the wrong "Georgia," causing a humorous mix-up.

The ad had been running on Facebook since September 10, with around $6,000 spent before it was removed on Monday after being featured in the Politically Georgia newsletter. The campaign did not provide a response regarding the mistake, but aides from Vice President Kamala Harris' camp were quick to mock the error. Harris’ deputy spokesperson, Ammar Moussa, sarcastically commented on the blunder, calling it a “top-notch operation.”

Iran's Ambassador to Lebanon Loses One Eye, Seriously Damages Other in Pager Explosion, New York Times

Mojtaba Amani, according to the publication, is being evacuated to Iran for treatment. It is noted that before the explosion, the pagers emitted a beep, which prompted many to bring the devices to their faces.

The attack was probably carried out by Israeli intelligence services, which planted explosives in about 5,000 pagers, Reuters reports. Of these, about 3,000 exploded. A senior source in Lebanon told the agency that the devices were planted by the Israeli spy service "at the production level." "The Mossad inserted a circuit board containing explosive material into the device, which receives a code. It is very difficult to detect by any means. Even with any device or scanner," the source said.

The day before, 4,000 people were injured in Lebanon, 11 of whom were killed as a result of pager explosions. Reuters writes that hundreds of members of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah, including fighters and medics, were seriously injured due to explosions of pagers, which they use for secret communication.

The 135th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery, was a heavy howitzer unit of the British Army during World War I. Formed in May 1916, the battery was equipped with 8-inch howitzers, which were crucial for siege warfare. On August 25th, 1916, the battery was stationed at La Houssoye, France, during the Battle of the Somme. The 8-inch howitzers they used had a range of about 12,300 yards and fired 200-pound shells.

These are extremely rare events. It would be like wearing a helmet in case your windshield fell out. Having some in the cockpit for emergencies could help, but I don't know if it would be possible to put them on while handling said emergency.
