Let that be done by the EU once Trump decides to leave NATO. (/s of course, no one can ever invade the US, and their decisions are theirs as long as they do not seek conflict with other countries!).

The Netherlands also does this. They create 'Bicycle streets' or 'fietsstraten' where drivers have to give priority to and aren't allowed to pass cyclists. Way better than this and doesn't require too much construction in principle.

Freedom of movement is not just freedom to drive a car, in fact, car ownership is extremely expensive and you have to sit in traffic a lot. Rather, it's about going where you want to, when and how you want to. About walkable cities and affordable or free and abundant options for public transit. Therefore, the suburbs in America are less 'free' than the 15-minute city (source: The Netherlands has a LOT of 15-minute cities, and they're really nice to live in, even without a car!

Eigenlijk is het beter om een trambaan aan te leggen, want milieuvriendelijker (geen accu's, staal-staal geeft meer grip dan rubber-beton), en heeft veel meer capaciteit dan een bus wanneer nodig. Bovendien neemt een trambaan minder ruimte in dan een busbaan, omdat er geen rekening gehouden hoeft te worden met stuurbewegingen (de tram beweegt mee met de rails), en is een tram makkelijker gelijkvloers te maken, met betere toegankelijkheid als gevolg.
