Yea. It’s pretty laughable. I’ve been in software development and open source software for 25+ years at this point. No. You’ve made it your personality because you like the circle jerk. Reading the other comments you’ve absolutely chosen to not respond to anyone’s salients points other to call them shills.

When did I argue for the security of Apple? I simply pointed to your logical fallacies. Others called you out for not really understanding the concepts you’ve posted. Stop setting up strawmen for your points to land.

And sure. You’ll respond to this, again, missing any point to give yourself a nice rebuttal. Don’t worry about it. It’s fine.

Maybe because you seem to have personally invested yourself in a fight against a company by posting a 2 year old unconvincing YouTube video?

Because you disagree with people thinking Apple is secure. It’s honestly such a circle jerk. You’ll find more people on Lemmy and Reddit who are ready to tear down Apple. But it’s fucking hilarious to think you are inundated with shills. Go look at that (2 year old) YouTube’s videos comments. Go look at any Apple thread in tech subreddits. It’s so fucking old. It’s so tiring watching people shit on a company when I trust that company with my data much more than google or Microsoft.

It’s fine to make something your personality. You’re going to get pushback though. And it’s not fucking shills. The idea that shills would even be here is laughable.

So you posted a 2 year old video because of “some people” think Apple is secure?

Edit: so it’s a fucking check on signed apps? Ok? He takes one thing: Apple validates certain on signed apps - and then extrapolates it into this company is monitoring when you open photoshop from a friends house. They can get your isp! - holy fuck they could do this already.

Your response to - this is on every major os was to say “yeah but some people think Apple is beyond reproach”.

Every time I offer similar views the responses I get are somewhere along the lines of

But you can run Linux on windows! You can install most of the same tools on windows Just run everything in docker anyway

I’ve been coding most of my life. Usually people don’t understand just how sucky the tool chains are on windows when you step into certain dev work.

If I ever have to setup multiple python virtual envs again I’ll fucking just quit. Pipenv. Virtualenv. Poetry. Every fucking one on windows has been riddled with bugs

Yes. It is evident that banning masks is more important when corporations feelings get hurt at the existence of said masks.

So remember:

Personal choice here is not ok Virtue signaling is ok - as long as you are signaling virtues that agree with conservative feelings Feelings over facts

Kind of crazy how those three talking points are argued ad nauseam in the other direction. Yet seem to be the only supporting reasons here. Hmm. I wish there were a phrase that describes saying one thing and doing another.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I guess it really says something about those people who view masks as an attack on themselves based on your statements

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago (4 children)

Being in the workforce for 40 years now I do understand how corporations feel.

Masks help in general. And if an employee who has a cold wants to wear a mask that’s a net benefit for customers and society.

Maybe I have more faith in the American people to NOT FREAK the fuck out if they walk into somewhere that has a masked worker.

Probably unreasonable. Ideas of personal choice - until it comes to something where people disagree. Then personal choice gets removed.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 year ago (6 children)

So that is a reasonable take? They don’t want people to wear masks because they’ll look different? That’s a lot of justification for an absurd corporate mandate.

Yeah. I wouldn’t say I’m a huge oracle fan - and maybe this is pandering - but ibm’s move was such shit. It’s plain manipulation of gpl terms and does not really honor the intent.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

What is your opinion on the wallet? Any downsides?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Very very reasonable. The last thing you want is some overzealous middle management or employee feeding an llm your in house docs, training material or god forbid actually customer data.

All to often everyone gets wowed by some bullshit and wants to rush in a solution that is unnecessary to prove it could be done.

Initial thoughts? I’m only a few hours in (chapter 4 right now). I did not read any of the pre release material.

This is an entirely new world right? Or does it overlap with known parts of the cosmere?

Not much that I’ve seen in the way of comp changes. Looks like on fire is back.
