I have this switch coupled with Sengled Smart Bulbs. If manually pressed the switch does cut power to the bulbs, but when I manually turn it on or ask Alexa to turn it on, the bulbs come on and I can control brightness, color, and temp via voice, app, or routine.

I use this switch with Sengled Smart Bulbs. The switch is there so my wife can turn lights off manually, but all of the smart bulb functionality is controlled via voice commands/routines. I can also turn the switch on and off via routine or voice commands.

The cheap little remotes work fine and are responsive. One thing to note is they are susceptible to picking up other IR signals. For instance if I point a random remote at my led strip, it will change color, flash etc.

There are traffic lights that integrate with Skype and Teams for this purpose. I had this when I worked in a glass office, and people would stand outside my door and motion at me when I was on a call, or walk in and start talking.

I have an Alexa routine called “light the steps” If I say “Alexa, Light the steps” It sets my Sengled smart bulb to 100% Waits 2 Minutes Sets bulb back to 5%

I want to trigger this routine when my ring camera detects motion.

I tried just creating a routine, selecting the ring camera, and selected When: Detects Motion Action: Alexa, Light the steps. That didn’t work.

I did some research and read about “enable x routine”, but that doesn’t actually run it.

If I could achieve this some other way, I’m open, but I’m heavily invested in the Ring/Alexa ecosystems.

Ring is pretty simple, has inexpensive Hardware and monitoring, and has great integration with Alexa.
