Even though they might go the subscription route … it will not bode well… first of all there is no nfsw content through the api and secondly looking at the behaviour of Reddit it will not be very long before Reddit finds another way to shut them down

This seems to be quite outdated. Waffles is no more There are 2 private trackers which have risen up from What’s ashes: redacted and orpheus

I just finished Genesis by Robin Cook. Like all his books, this one is also a Medico-Thriller. This book published in 2019, is based on Genetic Profiling based in DNA sampling and recreating the family tree.

I was an avid fan of Robin Cook in my teens and read almost everything written by him, this book however did not recreate that excitement. It is a well written book working on an important promise but I never connected to the protagonist and the antagonist. Other may like it though based on its premise and Robin Cook charisma.

George Guidall, like always, does a fantastic job with the narration.

Don't know where I got the book from. It was in my library for years. These days it is extremely hard to find the books with were originally published on CDs and are now only available on Audiobookbay. THough the torrents are not very well seeded. i would suggest anyone wanting to read Robin Cook should get their hands on these asap.

Hi everyone, do post about your currently in-progress audiobooks.

  1. What are you liking about the book, the author, the narrator etc
  2. Where did you get the book from
  3. What app/platform are you using to listen

Anything else you would like to share.

I am really surprised about how a for profit company can be so dumb.

Killing the golden egg laying goose can be so apt here.

Thanks for the info.

Please do share your inputs on Audiodramas and the sources in a seperate post. Many others will definitely make use of it.

In terms of Audiobook Players for mobile phones, i tend to divide them into 2 categories:

  1. Apps which play the media stored locally:

Android Clients: a. Smart Audiobook Player - Versatile, has almost all the required audiobook features. Very stable and one of the oldest players in the market (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ak.alizandro.smartaudiobookplayer&hl=en&gl=US)

b. Listen Audiobook Player: Newer, has a better UI (in my opinion). Cloud Sync of reading progress (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.acmeandroid.listen&hl=en&gl=US)

c. Voice Audiobook Player: Good UI, FOSS (https://github.com/PaulWoitaschek/Voice)

iOS Clients: a. Bound Audiobook Player: Stable with most of the required features (https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bound-audiobook-player/id1041727137)

b. Haven't used any other app

  1. Apps which work of server-client model

a. Audiobookshelf: New, still being actively developed. Android client though in beta is quite decent. iOS client still needs work. Multi-Platform (https://www.audiobookshelf.org/)

b. Plex with Prologue (https://prologue.audio/) (iOS)/Bookcamp (https://www.bookcamp.app/) (iOS/Android)/Symphonium (https://symfonium.app/) (Android): In terms of ease of use and features, Prologue beats all the other apps however the other apps mentioned provide a good experience

Hi,

Thanks for coming over.

With regards to Audio dramas, I am definitely of the opinion that it should be discussed here. Audiodramas are of much value to those who like the immersive experience which these provide.

Regarding the availability, I only know of those produced by either GraphicAudio (paid) and BBC (paid). Please feel free to list other sources.

You are more than welcome to post anything related to Audiobooks/Audio Dramas/Radio Dramas etc. I don't think podcasts would fit in this category hence not recommending those.

Have a happy stay here!
