The ironic part is that I have this screw bit, but the screwdriver is far too small to get into that recess and the bit is proprietary to the screwdriver.

If you’re fine with emulation, and you haven’t played it yet, Xenoblade Chronicles is pretty good. You can get the Wii version and install HD textures and on screen button mappings of your choice and it’s quite good. It’s not quite open world but the maps are very big and it’s a JRPG. It’s also retro if you consider Wii to be retro yet.
You probably wouldn't even need duct tape for this, since 4 philips screws are already used. Proprietarity is a statement.
