Hey!

I want your opinion

I just want a simple disk enclosure to store my disks since I have a lot of adapters for my HDDs. My current library is about 6tb, so not a lot. I just have a plex server with some services running in docker in a low power mini pc.

Which one do you guys recommend me? (the budget is 200usd)

Hey! Sorry for the repeating question, I have a very specific question though.

For context, I access my services using a vpn, and that's been great. However, I've been a lot of people mentioning reverse proxies. Are they necessary or more of a convenience thing? I ask because I don't see something that I cannot do with my current vpn setup.

Thanks!

Hey! Thanks a lot for your reply! I just have two other questions. First of all, the address is regarding the host right? And that ip should be the static ip of the computer or the 127…?And also, is there a way to put that same ip for all services in the docker compose file or I have to do it for everyone manually? Thanks again!

Basically, I have this doubt, I have some self hosted services in docker where I add the ports like this:
host_port:container_port, so I don't specify the interface, so by default, it is 0.0.0.0.

Somebody recently told me that this is dangerous and that I expose my services to the public internet by doing this. I don't want to do that since I am the only one accessing them so I just use a vpn to access them. So, to try this out, I typed in my browser my public ip alongside the host port I used for one of my services but I cannot access it. This has me puzzled. How's the deal? Am I exposing it? Should I change it?

What are your thoughts? Thanks!

Hey!

Basically, I want to expand my storage and tidy it up (atm I have more or less like 5 disks, external and internal ones).

While researching, I saw two things that may be appropiate: docking stations and disk enclosures

However, I am having some trouble understanding the difference (at least for my use case)

My use case is basically I have a server running ubuntu with all of my servers dockerized and just want to expand my storage to store movies and tv shows and make it look nicer. No RAID, no anything.

I came across two options:

https://sabrent.com/collections/docking-station/products/ds-sc4b

and

https://www.terra-master.com/global/d4-300.html

Questions:

Which one do you think is better for my use case?

What's the difference between docking stations and disk enclosures?

Are there any differences for my use case?

Do you know another device that may be better or have you had any bad experience with the aforementioned devices?

Thanks!

Hey!

Basically I want to have my movies backed up in the cloud and was wondering what do I need. Do I need to look for a cloud backup tool or cloud storage?

I think I should go for cloud storage, but I want to make sure before I pull the trigger

Thanks!

Hey!

I have a quick question, what do you guys use to backup up your movies/tv shows/content?

I just learned about iDrive and thought that this would be cheaper than to have a raid since if a drive fails, I could just download the missing content from the cloud. It is subscription based but I think it is super cool.

What are your thoughts? Can I upload movies? Would I have any problems? Am I missing anything?

Thanks!
