And I'm already afraid of seeing the absurd prices + abysmal value Nvidia will come up with.

Performs around an Intel 10400 or Ryzen 3600 when not power restrained ( it runs at 4.3GHZ and boosts up to 4.6 on single threaded workloads. ) Still sips power in most games.

Have that CPU running along a 3070, it still purrs like a kitten in most games except a few exceptions that have crap optimisation that came out this year.

It's 100% worth it if you got it for free, what do you have to lose?

But if you want to stream, it'll be a no go unless you stream using the GPU.

In a nutshell?

It's the duration the motherboard will allow the CPU to use more power than it's rated TDP.

Say if you got a chip rated for 125W, Tau/PL1 is the motherboard allowing 225W, but only for a certain period of time during which it can reach it's rated turbo clockspeeds.

After the Tau/PL1 boosting period is over, it goes back down to 125W max and the clockspeeds follow by dropping too so as not to use more than 125W.

Something's seriously wrong somewhere... Wrong benchmark version? Too short of a Tau/PL1 window?

7900X3D is such a weird chip with its only 6 cores CCD expanded cache...

Worse than cheaper 7800X3D at gaming.

Worse than pricier 7950X at productivity.

What's the niche?

Used to... But not anymore in the latest versions.

Kinda shitty they restrict it to the 14900k(f) and 14700k(f).

No 14900? No 14700? They're the same number of P and E cores as the K versions. And they claim they focused on the gaming oriented CPUs, but no 14600k which must be the most gaming oriented CPU in the 14th series? The higher core counts are good for productivity, but gaming?

I don't know what to think about that.
