https://lemmy.ca/c/hockey seems to be where the /r/hockey crowd is heading (along with https://discord.com/invite/reddithockey but I hate Discord's interface and would never recommend it for any text discussion). I didn't see them when I first started this community, but they have gained a lot of steam the past few days. That's where the action is.

For myself, I only created this community because I didn't see any other hockey community. I have no desire to moderate a community. I've done that before at a much larger hockey forum, and volunteer moderation a thankless (and kinda shitty) job that ultimately drove me off the platform. I want discussion forums to be a fun place for me, not a second job. Therefore I'm going to lock this community unless someone really wants to take it over. DM me if so.

Lastly, I am reassessing my entire involvement with Lemmy as a platform based on things I have learned about the dev team. I kind of don't want to promote Lemmy if it leads to donations to this crew. It may be that I land on Kbin, or maybe just stick to Mastodon. I only know I won't be going back to Reddit.

See you around the Fediverse!

Last night I learned that Grant Fuhr is the color analyst for the AHL Coachella Valley Firebirds. I didn't really recognize him without hair... but then I haven't really seen much of him since his playing days.

Be the change you want to see in the Lemmy. If there isn't a community for it, make one!

3-0 Coachella, and it's not even as close as that sounds. It could easily be 5-0. Bears getting frustrated.

Cats determined to make a game of it.

Only AHLtv.com as far as I know. I'm in-market for the Kraken, and our RSN (ROOT Sports NW) is carrying the Finals games on Root Sports Plus since Coachella Valley is the Kraken's AHL affiliate.

I'm switching the big screen over to the Calder Cup Final, but I'll still have this game going the laptop.

Stephenson is on fire tonight.

Well that was certainly a bad sequence for the refs.

I don't see anything for user or post flair yet, but I'm keeping an eye on it. As soon as I find out Lemmy has it, I'll work on implementing it.

They just left Barbashev all alone in the slot too.

I'm struggling with this series. On the one hand, the Panthers have a lot of players I really don't care for. On the other hand, I don't want Vegas to win so soon their existence. As a Kraken STH I don't like the bar it sets for Seattle. Also if the Panthers win, the longtime Bruins fan in me would feel a bit less sting from that first round loss.

You can take the game in on ROOT Sports Plus (in the ROOT Sports NW footprint) or AHLtv.com if you have them! Any other broadcasts people know of?

I put up a pinned game thread for today. Maybe it will see some action!

Broadcasts: TNT, Sportsnet

Sorry, no fancy stat tables, maybe next time!

Can the Cats tie it up?

Apollo (the premier iOS app for Reddit) is also shutting down. It'll make Reddit unusable on mobile, so therefore, why bother with desktop.

Driving away thousands or millions of customers is a curious strategy for preparing for IPO. Or if you prefer, "It's a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for 'em."

Pretty impressive for a team that didn't exist last year. Ron Francis has done a good job building the team, finding some hidden gems like undrafted Tye Kartye who is playing really well.

This is a community on Lemmy for all kinds of hockey discussion... all leagues, international play, fans and players alike, all are welcome.

Please keep comments respectful and free of all forms of bigotry.
