There are cheap HDMI splitters that strip protection from HDCP content :)

Wrong assumption on my side.

Secret organization of Christians? Christians (at least those from Roman Catholic Church) are banned from being members of any secret groups or organizations under the threat of being excommunicated. So by the definition they are no longer Christians. They are simply wealthy people caring for their own agendas.

The title is bullshit…

Pirated IPTV traffic and AceStream of the same match? Alternative steams from providers other than TVP? Maybe Poles like watch the match at home while westerners at the pubs and restaurants?

You are totally right. Median and average alone mean shit without each other and without deviation, and such article like this is considered by me a manipulation without further correctness check. The same shit is with journalists confuckulating percentages with percentage points.

In over 10 years I was made aware by my university professor of these practices I haven’t found a single article which got that right.

Look up "spółdzielnie mleczarskie" in Poland. https://pl.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sp%C3%B3%C5%82dzielnia_mleczarska

Milk cooperative? Is this how it translates?

Sorry for not translating the whole Wikipedia article, but TLDR this is how high quality dairy is produced in Poland, where everyone from smallest to larger farms can cooperate and coexist.

30 years ago there was even this now non-existent elaborate network of milk collection and delivery (we have shops now :p) - every morning there was a transport organized through every small or large village where everyone farmer even with only one cow could sell the milk. As the number of such farmers went rapidly down this has stopped being done.

Of course you can still find big corp dairy products in the stores (Nestle? Danone?) but they have a hard time competing and I am not sure but they still might buy their supplies from polish cooperatives.

Pole here. I am exposed to US political news in every English- speaking medium, especially though Lemmy now and Reddit in the past.

I don’t know if this is planned or by accident but it looks like US is very efficient in exporting their political bullshit and playbooks to other countries.

Applying the American lens to current events here could give you a conclusions not far from the „ground truth”. Strange.

Well, this is exactly what mathematicians do.

Be careful not to assign a “patent troll” label to everyone defending their patent portfolio. Where do you mark the line?

[–] [email protected] 22 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (8 children)

There is a Nokia branch called Nokia Technologies. They invest money in R&D, they file for genuine patents involving new technology, for instance in audio and video compression. (They want to sue Netflix or already sued). Them defending themselves against patent abuse is how they earn money. And they go against other big corps. This is vastly different than your typical patent troll.

I hate this too. But - what if we start using this ability to our advantage, just like these guys did? Corps use it, let’s also abuse it so they can’t destroy us without also waiving their rights. LLCs are the privacy abstraction layer of the real world. I figured that even registering your own personal domain is much safer when done through your own LLC than on your personal name. The examples are many.

Answer: no. Huawei equipment is not the best in class. Cheapest? Maybe. Cheapest as in Total Cost of Ownership? No, good luck with their quality.
