I make it easy for people.

"Start at the beginning and watch in production order. A bunch of stuff happens between/during those early entries but it's all essentially retcon, save it for when you have the context. It'll be more impactful."

But it's so olllllllllllld I can't watch this!

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That's my advice, do what you want with it.

slice of life, feel good

Gundam

Gundam doesn't really fit those descriptors at all 😅 But... there is the Build Fighters series, which takes place in near-future real-world. It focuses on fans of Gundam model kits, and technology that scans the kits and lets them battle. It's not slice of life, but it's (mostly) kids and low-stakes conflict revolving around competition.

Opinions vary on which entries are the strongest or weakest, but IMO the first entry (Build Fighters) is fantastic, and really nails the whole fan enthusiasm feel. A lot of the references are going to be lost on people who aren't already fans of the franchise, but it executes on the shonen format well enough to stand on its own.

Edit: Honorable mention for slice of life goes to The Witch From Mercury, which made a lot of people very angry for hitting some of those notes early on.

Or you wake up one morning and see that FedEx stopped by late the previous evening. Was it left out in the rain? In subzero temperatures? Is it even still there? It's all part of the ~~reason why I track everything~~ fun!

I used to enjoy the old Joystiq site. Followed them to Engadget. Hell, I used the Joystiq url redirect bookmark until it stopped working. Might as well just delete the bookmark now, no sense it watching it slide further into irrelevancy.

One day I'm going to be scrolling through my saved pictures, come across this as a still frame, wonder why I saved it, click on it, and shoot whatever it is I'm drinking out of my nose and mouth.

Again.

I'm definitely willing to give it a shot provided there's no lootbox crap. I did some reading and the series seems to be more of a looter, which I'm fine with. All I ask is that it be 3rd person camera, like the vs games (especially the old ones). 1st person is a deal breaker for my motion sickness-prone brain.

It's fairly perfect. Can't take credit though, I'm but a simple meme hoarder.

That's what she said.

PB snuck another drop in last night, handful of Build Fighters kits for May delivery. It doesn't look like anything sold out so far. That Psycho GM is a definite for me. Kirara's Gerbera Tetra adds some color depth the original deco is sorely missing IMO. The Z'Gok kit is positively ancient, but Meijin was kind enough to stick on some new big beefy arms. I've never been a Jegan fan but there's a couple of variants for those that are. And while I like design of X, the HG kits and their variants do nothing for me for whatever reason.

Completionnaire's Disease is a bitch.

Croton breaks down the damage and modifiers of the Sages' attacks and abilities. I typically play with the Sages off unless I need a specific ability, but it was interesting seeing the numbers.

I'm always down for more OYW content. Can't say I'm happy about the Netflix jail part.

I need one of these. To glue onto my car tire.

Kinda digging the new Lacus look. And count me among those that think the new mini Haro plushies are adorable.

A lot of Gunpla news that's mostly out of date since the expo started last week and a lot of stuff has sold out in the US.

Not really a whole lot to talk about personally, but Kakarot is nothing if not thorough. Chapter data for skimming purposes:

There are some story spoilers, as this glitch leverages a late-game plot fight.

Gonna preface this with saying that this is going to be more informational than practical for most people. Just too many restrictions. But the hope is that this leads to further discoveries. As it stands, the save file needs to have completed the regional phenomena but not turned them in to Purah yet. And once the glitch is active, the save cannot progress past beating the story Phantom Ganon fight. Which kind of kills the buzz IMO. Even so, it continues to boggle my mind how people find this stuff.

Not mine, just sharing cool stuff.

This is awful.

I'm not sure how recent this is, but Gundam.info put up an interactive flow chart to recommend a Gundam series to watch. Aside from the random translation misses ("Are you interested in story of engineers then pilots") the recommendations seem random. But they're not: it's all deterministic and repeatable. One portion of the tree as an example:

UC: yes
Short series: no
Origin of series: yes -> MSG movie I

Origin of series: no
Boy meets girl: no -> Gundam The Origin 🤨

Boy meets girl: yes -> Unicorn OVA

That "engineers then pilots" question? Answering yes leads to Twilight Axis. Really? That's your plan to get people into Gundam? 🤦‍♂️

Anyone find anything else facepalm-worthy?

Edit: why are we continuing the Reddit-like unintuitive line break markup? goes back and adds extra white space to start new lines as if CR/LF doesn't exist 😑

Admittedly, I don't follow any TotK content aside from here and on YT. Discord isn't my cup of tea, and Reddit lost me this past summer. So a lot of these tidbits might be old news. But I do love Kleric's style.
