I daily drive a ThinkPad for work running Wayland. I have one occasional problem with a commercial application that I suspect is related but I haven't bothered to prove it since it's so infrequent. Otherwise, rock solid experience for the last year since I was given the machine.

And slow. So. Very. Slow.

"I use 'Arch Linux'" she said sarcastically. Why are Arch and Manjaro in quotes, but Ubuntu LTS and Linux Mint aren't?

One option is to see if you have the ability to purchase Office 2019 or 2021 for home use through school or an employer. I've been able to purchase both versions for US$20. It's cheap and legal. Now, installing it under Linux is another conversation altogether.

It was still working for you until now? I uninstalled it several weeks ago because I couldn't get anything. Kinda makes me want to reinstall it and try again.

I was so excited, hoping to find recipes to win my family back. 🫠

There were a few moments where Firefox seemed to stumble a bit and I did give Chrome a try. Otherwise, Firefox has been my primary browser for ages. Even to the point where I was using a portable version on a locked down computer ages ago. It just works and it respects me as a user.

That's the second time today that I've been reminded that ZoneAlarm was a thing. And apparently still is a thing.

Wait, what? What happens when you hit the two hour mark? I'd it like one of the router simulators that forces a reboot?

No one is going to sit through a 5-6 hour movie. Well. Most people won't. They broke it at the perfect moment. While I wasn't initially thrilled about the long wait between both halves, it does add a sense of realism in that time has passed in the real world too and the younger actors might look a bit older now. They weren't shy about it being only part of the adaptation either.
