so I'm an English Quebec person but I live and work in French, and it is pretty much always officially réunion.

However, my point isn't that the Quebecois won't drop an anglicism from time to time, it is that European folks in my neighbourhood take it upon themselves to correct these anglicisms in the Quebecois, without any self awareness of their own.

I remember you making a pretty impassioned case that discussion and the marketplace of ideas are not useful Davel. This is what that attitude looks like from the other side I guess.

I love most of what gets posted here as a great reminder of the US‘s unofficial history. However I can't help but wonder where the "real leftists" are who usually go off about how "authoritarian" isn't a real word/was invented by the cia/is just propaganda.

A better vocabulary is learned somewhere. Adopting an upbeat tone was always sufficient for me to hold toddlers attention.
