It really depends on how it's being stored and used, like the other commenter mentioned, it's standard practice in banking/Brokerage industry to record all calls for training/litigation/coaching.

Still, it's not just mathematics, humans are making decisions on what companies to add or remove from the indices in a majority of cases.
This response sums up my feelings as well.

This was my understanding as well, it makes the math make sense but we haven't actually "proven" it, it's possible we're misunderstanding some fundamental aspect of physics but given all the evidence this is what makes sense.
My laymen understanding is they slowly break down and become less effective but not dangerous or negative.
Clearly they'll just voter shame and we'll end up exactly where we are. I'd argue the reason we are where we are is exactly that reason.
