Ostara, the name of the holiday we actually celebrated, is on the equinox, Easter stole a ton of traditions but slightly changed the day.

It's a celebration of spring, new life and fertility. Eggs and rabbits are both symbols of fertility hence their co-option into Easter. The history of Ostara herself is really interesting as you can actually trace her beginnings back Ishtar, one of humanity's easiest known deities.

It really depends on what your definition of "is" is.

That was super cool, thanks for the link.

Here's a bunch of books you can download. If you want to learn lore through a game Rogue Trader is great, same kind of RPG as Baulders Gate or Wrath of the Righteous.

I'm not a huge Warhammer nerd but I've been playing/interacting with the lore since like 2000. Couldn't possibly say the worst thing that's ever happened. The Warhammer universe is tens of thousands of years of tragedy and carnage.

The all guardsmen party is fucking fantastic. It's actually the story of someone's campaign in the Warhammer RPG. It should give you an ass ton of background lore, as well as an idea of how the game can work. It's also probably the funniest thing you've read in a long time.

Edit: Perhaps I am warhammer nerd.

I just finished the series yesterday. Season one and two are weak as fuck and don't feel like star trek at all. Its ok as a random explode-y sci-fi show though. Seasons 3-4 really did feel like star trek and I liked them quite a bit. One of the best parts of the show is all the main characters have a lot of growth through out the show and its done in great realistic way. The ending of season 4 was awesome and up there with some of the best trek episodes.

That constant anger isn't there anymore, some times I still have a bad day, but its not ever present annoyed at the world anymore.

Mostly in the form of groceries from wal-mart to me.

Like I've always known that I have it but after seeing all these memes call me out I've realized how many of my behaviors are tied to it. Now that I know some of the shit i do is treatable maybe I can actually change. Just started treatment today. So thanks to all the posters here!

Do to some really unfortunate shit my wife and I have to move however we really want to good with our place. Our first choice would be having a commune set up here in whatever form that takes, a place for our un-housed and unsafe comrades, a group of people who really want to do the self sufficient life style or even just anyone who needs a different life. The house is in a very rural area in Appalachians of western Maryland.

The house: 3 bedroom 2 ½ baths unfinished basement (which could be renovated into more bedrooms.)

The property: Almost 40 acres mix of fields and woods, a stream and several springs. As well as over 20 apple trees and more edible and medicinal plants then I can count. A large green house, barn (running water and electric), wood shed, chicken coop and bee hive (there is also a one room cabin but we plan on keeping that as a place for us when we come up to do work on the place).

Furnishings: We’re planing on leaving as much as we can, washer dryer and fridge, table and chairs, probably a bed or two, a workshop worth of tools and tons of other stuff. Also lots of out door equipment including a lawn tractor, brush mower, tiller, log splitter and more. Enough stuff that it’s already set up for whom ever comes.

The goat: We have a pet goat whose awesome but we can’t take him with us and he has a problem with his back legs so we’re worried if we gave him away he would become food. So the goat stays with the property and needs to be cared for.

Rights and responsibilities: There will be an official rental agreement so all the renter protection maryland offers. We will pay for all the repairs. Your only responsibilities would be basic yard maintenance (just the 3 fenced in acres) We’re completely open to the idea of of renovating the basement into bedrooms as well as the barn so more people can stay. Hell we’re even willing to talk about building another house/cabins. Basically for the most part as long as you ask first we’re willing to consider anything. We plan on moving back some day but that's at least a decade down the road and we have every intention of letting the commune continue to operate.

Rent: Unfortunately yes, we simply can’t afford both a mortgage and rent. However we’re obviously not looking to profit so the rent will be tied directly to our fixed rate mortgage, that puts the place over 1k below market value for the area and that's just considering the house not the property or the vast amount of stuff we’re leaving. As inflation continues goes up and the rent stays the same the value is even better. And once the mortgage is paid off no more rent. We’ve put 10 years of blood sweat and tears into this place as well as over 100k of improvements (brand new roof and high quality windows ect) We also plan to continue improving the place, solar panels a new fence for the garden and maybe a pond are all in the near future. We feel guilty about charging rent but its the only way we can make this work.

We've got about eight months to set this up. I’m happy to answer any general question here, any questions that might dox me send as a DM. Everyone here always says they want to live in commune now is the chance!

(slight back ground: My driveway is a half mile long and I live past my neighbor so any car that goes past his place is going to mine ,also the area is heavily wooded)

So yesterday the sheriff comes tearing up the drive way to my place (had to leave my car on the side of the road, not any problem.) A couple minutes later my neighbor sees lights moving through the woods (it was just me) but as soon as the sheriff left he steps out of the woulds holding an AR-15. "Just came to check and make sure you're ok"

It's nice to know your neighbors truly have your back even when the shit is hitting the fan for real.

He does have a little trouble with the "no goats in the house" rule.

No worries about growing zone, weather, space requirements just your dream garden.

I would love to be able to grow vanilla, they look really cool the flowers smell amazing and having a source of fresh vanilla beans would probably unlock some next level cooking. An olive tree would be cool too, I can eat unlimited olives and making my own oil would be awesome.

Everybody likes showing off their furry (or feathery or scaly) buddies and everyone loves looking at pictures of cute animals. We'd probably get to see a bunch more if we had a com just for that. Plus then all the pictures of Biggs could go in one place!

Should be a supper easy com to mod so I'd be happy to help if need be.

What if we all like got together and like overthrow our capitalist masters and then we can you know destroy capitalism for good
