8 hours is a stretch but you can do that yea. The thing is that at my college and in about half the trains they have power outlets so I can use those

Yes you can, Linux doesn't care. Do note that secure boot is a thing and that might mess you up

I have the 11th gen Intel with a 55Wh battery, it's about 4 hours with normal browser tabs, discord and maybe musescore open. I can sqeeze a bit more out of it when I put the brightness on minimal but I don't like doing that during the day

I use Ubuntu on the Framework 13 11th gen Intel and it works really good. It is different than Windows but the learning curve is similar
