I’m going to be honest, I’m sick and tired of repackaged, industry standard software that is just an nginx reverse proxy and underpowered authentication system.

Self hosting is already easy. SSL is easy. LDAP, and SSO are easy. If people actually wanted to help they’d make tutorials instead of opinionated branded tools that aren’t as flexible.

Just my two cents

Another random Tailscale praise post in a couple days!? I feel like this is advertising. It’s just WireGuard

Yes, GPU for transcoding is reason enough, but object detection using frigate, or AI stuff is nice also. Buy a nvidia.

Yeah as long as you want to be tied to a business forever. Just like youtube and netflix increasing rates, it's only a matter of time. This is the business plan of technology unfortunately. Charge for software that is free to use.

I found setting up wireguard super simple and did not need tailscale at all. Why involve a business when the technology just works.

Dude, I have been telling y'all Plex is going down fast. Just set up emby or jellyfin and be happy knowing your setup isn't profiting off of you

Cloudflare is awesome and undervalued in my opinion. They provide dozens of services and charge extremely reasonable pricing.

Hi, I'm currently running OPNSense on an HP T730 mini pc. It's been working very well for a few years, but now I'm upgrading my internet to 2.5g symmetrical and also plan to do some more complex routing.

So I'm looking for any recs for a small (max 12" squared) mini-pc or similar device for use with OPNSense (or similar).

I have a 10gb SFP PCI card in my HP T730 so I'd like to keep 10gb SFP (my switch is also SFP based).

I want to toy with Wireguard, and also have VLANs. If that changes anything.
