You’re more likely to die of a wild boar attack or of a cow than a wolf in europe.

If used properly this is a good thing. You don’t want someone who suffers from psychosis or some manic disorders with a firearm.

Obviously it really depends how it is implemented.

Yeah I don’t get why people are so judgy towards it here on lemmy.

It’s like a halfway between twitter and mastodon. And whether you like it or not it has a feature (algorithm) which mastodon doesn’t that makes people far more likely to use it.

It’s not as “good” in terms of not being company owned as mastodon. But it’s add-free, open source, and there’s some proto-federation going on. I mean I’m hosting my own instance there. Mostly it’s got far more funding than mastodon which means it’s already becoming feature rich even though it only released to the public a couple months ago, and it’s far less buggy than mastodon.

Power structures are indeed partly designed and in practice used by upper classes, and especially the owner class to keep their wealth and maintain the hierarchy that is beneficial to them. And this ended up being the case even in the Soviet Union.

It’s probably an oversimplification to say that is their sole purpose, but I understand why it is said that way to get the point across.

An interesting modern example of state sanctioned killing that occurs in nations that don’t necessarily have an army or legal executions. Is in some countries with lax euthanasia/assisted dying laws. Poor people who become unable to work due to disability, are often financially pressured to kill themselves through the official routes, as it can be hard or nearly impossible to survive solely on disability benefits.

Governments don’t really have much pressure to improve the situation, as it saves them, and by extension the upper classes, money. And the dead people don’t have votes to punish them with.

That’s not the point I was making. Just that the wheelchair ramp comparison doesn’t work.

Yes definitely for hard of hearing and hard of sight people it can be an accessibility issue. I’m mostly deaf myself.

But comparing the situation for abled people in the way it was above doesn’t really work.

I can’t throw myself up the stairs. Go in g down isn’t the problem, I could scooch down on my bum. (but then I would need someone to carry my wheelchair down).

As a disabled person I don’t think that’s a fair comparison to use.

People on mastodon have a choice, it’s an awful choice which comes with privacy and contributing to corporate trash, being advertised at non-stop compromises, which in my opinion no one should have to make.

But you can still see it. Disabled people just straight up can’t use the stairs. It’s not that it’s a shit compromise for us. It’s that we are physically unable too.

The engine seems to think their queen move to A5 is a decent move (they lose 20 centipawns).

And my pawn move both kicks the queen and protects the pawn on A7.

Do you think it’s being rated worse because it fucks up my long term pawn structure? Or maybe because they could play pawn to A5 later and if they force the trade it opens a file for their rook? While me playing that bishop move would mean my bishop is stuck, but its protecting from their queen, the only piece that’s under attack, so in a sense it gives me an advantage elsewhere on the board? And then your right that it opens a rook file for me.

I think I’m starting to get it. Thanks.

Edit: Oh an also my bishop was unprotected as is and no easy pawn moves were available to protect it. Yeah this makes sense.
