Only sensible course of action now, surely, is to remove all NSFW tags / content warnings and post the most appalling porn and gore they can find, obviously with misleadingly tame titles.

Me too. I seldom posted on Reddit the last few years as I felt it got lost.

It feels like home! I didn't think it would, but I've settled in. I like that it's a smaller community as I feel my comments count for more somehow. I also like that we're all (or at least a large proportion of us) just a little bit clueless about what's going on or how stuff works round here - we're muddling along together as best we can and it's lovely.

It feels a lot like Reddit did back in the early days before it got popular, in fact. And I think the existence of multiple instances as opposed to one site has the potential to keep it that way - if your instance gets too big or too busy for your taste, migrate somewhere quieter or even create your own.

I think we have to try it. And by 'we' I mean somebody who is not as flat broke as I am.

Due to the high temperatures involved the difference made by the thermal mass is so negligible we can effectively model it as zero

I'm having exactly the same issue trying to login - I'm guessing that as it's hosted on OP's own instance, our instances are not yet federated with his. Not really sure how to remedy that.

Edit: Managed to subscribe with the usual workaround - searched the community list for aquariums, not there. Searched again with [email protected], still not there. Waited a minute, searched again for 'aquariums' and it was there and let me subscribe.

Oh they were hopeless, they made so many bad decisions and just got lucky - I was fuming at the end 😂

For the last time Abed, there are no alternate timelines!

Right? I would have gladly paid a monthly fee if I was able to continue using the app of my choice and not view ads, and I'm guessing plenty others would have done so.

This is brilliant! I can't bring myself to go back, even to visit, as I only use mobile and refuse to use that shitty app. But it's great to hear people are fighting back.

The musical fruit

There are a couple of communities I've come across on online lists / forums that I'd like to join, but they aren't showing up on a search despite the usual workarounds. I suspect they might just be hosted on instances we aren't currently federated with, but is there a way to check this so I know if this is the case or if it's due to a bug?

This was one of my favourite subreddits back in the day, and I can't find its equivalent here so I'm going with "be the change you want to see in the world".

A place to grumble and tut about all the little annoyances unique to those of us in good old Blighty.
