No worries.

From the link you posted, what they did to address those concerns:

In November 2020, the United Arab Emirates overhauled its legal system to loosen restrictions on alcohol consumption, permit cohabitation, and increase penalty for honor killings, among other changes

Not that I think that those things were the big changes, but the headline articles about what we find strange (in the western parts of the world) hasn't been there, except for the guy who got his fine upgraded to jail time for the incident with airport staff.

Okay, fair enough I guess.

You do know the UAE is a different country than Qatar?

Uhm, I stay here and I want the public transport to get better, which it is. Except for my work, I can reach most of my points of interests already without a car.

There is a proper sewer system. I think you are probably referring to the Burj Khalifa's first 2 months when they had problems connecting it to the sewerage system, but that has already been done. There were other hiccups and needed to have a part of it upgraded, but it was connected to the sewerage system very closely after the opening.

Some of the buildings are inspired by buildings in America, but there are influences from all around the world.

Each apartment has their own control over the temperature with the controller in their apartment. I updated the the pictures in the original post to show what is on the roof. The unit in each apartment controls the fan and I think the rooftop unit.

I did do this when I just moved in, but my current unit still made the apartment much too cold even when I set it to be 26 degrees C/ 80ish degrees Fahrenheit. It sets the cooling to the lowest setting, but it doesn’t switch it off even if it is way lower than the setting.

But if my new controller can keep the temperature steady, I will do as you suggest. Thank you

It is one of the reasons I wanted to change the controller

Thanks.

I will have to get up on the roof of my apartment block to see. I will take a picture and update my post a bit later. It is only those 4 thin cables that come out of the controller.

Last time I was up there all I could see was a fan and a marshall rooftop unit (calling it this very loosely, I just watched a few youtube videos. I wasn’t expecting to go into the hvac system deeper than the controller change). There is air ducts to all the apartments from their rooftop unit.

Yes, my entries in the journal app is much less thought out and structured than what I normally do for my diary entries.

I just wonder how easy it will be to find an entry if you want to look back after 1000s of entries. But I guess the app will also still grow with us.

It is fine that you don’t like it. I don’t really think you will get downvoted for it. I also don’t like LD as much as other people but I think it is fine.

There are many other trek things that I don’t like as much as other people, but in the end there are different parts of ST that resonates with different people.

The thing I like about ST is how realistic somethings from back in the day are. I also like the more serious tone of things, but I think with the popularity of things like the Orville etc you can see that a big part of the fandom was looking for something more light hearted.

Just tell your co-worker that LD is just not for you. I am sure he will understand.

For me this isn’t really a red flag but it is a big omission.

And it is the ecosystem that allows it to give you all that nice suggestions etc

I also don’t know how you would handle the export with all the exercise data etc there as well.

But a lot of apples products do have export like numbers pages etc. It is still in beta for its first release, maybe it will still come

Yes, because the entry is almost already done for you. You just write what you feel about it. No curating tour pictures etc.

The entry isn’t exactly like how I would want it but it isms close and it would have things in there like the location which I always set in my diaro entry and what it choose to be the best pictures.

It also adds suggestions that I normally wouldn’t write about like my walk or jog, but then because it is already compiled I just jot something down quickly.
