maybe-later-kiddo It's about pragamatism - Emma

maybe-later-honey Sam "Harris" Seder - I voted for Nader and we got Bush (just going to omit how shitty billdawg was for the left, labor, LGBTBQ and the DNC nominating his VP to extend his policies were or how the DNC went on to rehabilitate mission-accomplished and were willing partners during his reign of shit.)

maybe-later-honey Look honey, we see you and hear you on that volcel-kamala xenophobia, but the reality is there are a lot of racists in this country and we can't afford to stand on principal now.

I am reposting from a 3 year post I wrote on reddit-logo CW refrences to Chelsea Manning's deadname as much of the info was from 2013 before we knew publicly she is trans.

2013 Chelsea Manning controversy On April 24, 2013, Pride announced that its electoral college had chosen U.S. Army Private First Class Chelsea (then known as Bradley) Manning as Community Grand Marshal in absentia for the 43rd annual Gay Pride Parade. Two days later, Pride's board president vetoed the election, declaring it "an error" due to a "systemic failure that now has become apparent and will be rectified." The board subsequently explained that the category in which Manning was elected is restricted to "a local hero (individual) not being a celebrity"—neither of which befit Manning.

Both the election and its nullification proved contentious. On April 29, an estimated 200 protesters disrupted the board's meeting, demanding that PFC Manning be reinstated. On May 7,21 individual Manning supporters and 5 organizational signatories filed a formal Complaint of Unlawful Discrimination with the San Francisco Human Rights Commission, noting that SF Pride received $58,400 from the City and County of San Francisco's Grants for the Arts Program in fiscal year 2012–2013. On May 12, the board said it would meet "in a larger venue after the 2013 Celebration and Parade [to] allow people from all sides of that issue and others to fully air and hear one another's viewpoints, without jeopardizing the production of this year's event and the safety and security of the attendees." Standing firm by its decision, the board said it would not "let one issue, as important as it is to some, overshadow the concerns and interests of the hundreds of thousands who attend SF Pride."On June 7, 2013, the board announced that since none of the alternatives submitted at a May 31 community forum garnered a consensus majority, the board's decision to rescind PFC Manning's grand marshalship would stand. The board also reported that the San Francisco Human Rights Commission had declined to investigate the discrimination claims filed against SF Pride.

San Francisco Pride, Chelsea Manning, and Queer Assimilation

in 2013, activists in the LGBTQ community quickly organized around the proposal of Bradley (Chelsea) Manning—which was then rescinded—as a candidate for Grand Marshall in that year's SF Pride Parade. The controversy regarding Manning highlighted problems in the evolution of the largest LGBT gathering in the nation and indeed in the gay rights movement itself. From parade officials' support of the military to legalization of gay marriage to the Manning contingent as the largest non-corporate contingent in the parade, politics within the movement is explored.

More than 1000 supporters of Iraq and Afghan war whistle-blower Bradley Manning marched in San Francisco's 2013 Pride Parade. Represented in the Manning contingent were the groups The 'Bradley Manning Support Network', 'Courage to Resist', 'Afghans For Peace', 'Iraq Veterans Against The War', and many others.

In part, the numbers for this contingent were bolstered by the actions of Lisa L Williams, SF Pride President. Back in April, an announcement came from someone at the SF Pride office that Bradley would be given the honor of Honorary Grand Marshal of the parade, but this was very quickly rescinded in a statement released by Ms. Williams: "That was an error and that person has been disciplined. He does not now, nor did he at that time, speak for SF Pride."

She went on to speak more personalized and condemning words about PFC Manning: "Bradley Manning is facing the military justice system of this country. We all await the decision of that system. However, until that time, even the hint of support..." for Manning "...will not be tolerated by the leadership of San Francisco Pride. It is, and would be, an insult to everyone, gay and straight, who has ever served in the military of this country."

Vietnam War whistle-blower Daniel Ellsberg: "I don't hint at support for Bradley Manning, I couldn't be louder." He went on to promise he'd be representing Bradley at the Pride parade, a promise that he made good on as he rode in the back of an old truck with the Manning contingent...carrying a mask of Manning signifying the popular saying: "I am Bradley Manning."

A banner as wide as Market St. fronted the march: "Pride In Our Whistle-blower". Hundreds of other signs, and flags and thousands of stickers with Manning's name and likeness were all over the crowd. During staging and down the parade route, many in the contingent handed out literature to the Pride Parade crowd: "Do you know Bradley Manning's story?"

Set to live music from 'The Brass Liberation Orchestra', the crowd chanted all the way down the parade route:

"LGBT Bradley Manning speaks for me! LGBTQ Bradley Manning speaks for you!"

And the Democrats cheat their own primaries, argue in court they have no legal obligation to actually represent the vote, or anide by even their own rules, and bend over backwards to knock 3rd parties off the ballot. Your right to vote / choice is already being actively removed by the same party that screams about the other party.

Yes until Americans shake out of this duopoly crap and tell both D and R corporation to tale a hike the beatings shall continue.

Arming the Saudis and directly aiding a genocide in Yemen would be a good crime to prosecute him for, and perfectly valid. But the Does Not Care party is wholly complicit with that as well. I was kind of hoping they'd get him on that during the number of impeachment attempts, but genocide seems to be order of the day in DC.

Taking shit tons of defense bribes and bribes from the same peope who were bribing Bolton via his super PAC who were dubiously conflicted of interest with investments in and development of nukes - I'd say there's a scandal there too, but Hillary was also taking money from them as well.

But yeah it's always the left that's "spoiling" it by their crused accountability yadda yadda.

I am so sick of hearing about their lame attempts to fuck with Trump. All they are doing is validating his perpetual victim complex to his supporters. Keeping his name alive in the news. Boosting him in effect. All because Democrats do not want to move an inch to the left to actually do soemthing for the people. They think all they need to do to win is just point to thicc-trump

Does he think the greedy sociopaths he's protesting gives a fuck about another's life? What a performative fool. All they'll do is think of another obsticle out of the way. Live to fight another day silly.

Not a financial pro just advise-

If your job offers a 401 or anything with matching funds - do that. It's money you won't miss and what money the company matches is free money.

Start a safety cushion. This should be about 3-6 months of income to fall back on or you van tap into in case of life's Iittle mishaps. Car repairs, medical, house repairs, family emergency, job loss ect.

CD - cash deposit rates are actually worth investing right now. Over 5% returns and they are guarenteed funds. The more the government jacks up rates, the higher % CDs will be offered. They pay out a flat % over X amount of time. 3 months, 6 months, 12, 18. I wouldn't go more than 18 months as rates can can change. Most you should be alble to withdrawl the money in case of emergency. They usually pay part interest evey month so you'll still have the money in case you need to, but the amount you get will be the time invested so you wont get the full 5% for example if you pull out 6 months into a 12 month CD. You'll only gain 2.5%.

Some of them require higher starting balances than others, but most are pretty easy to get into. Take part of that cushion and make it work for you. Savings accounts offer jack squat. Not very aggressive but better than the stock market casino where even good companies are getting taken for a ride. The market right now is very broken.

If you can, save for some gold, silver, platinum to diversify. The US is going to experience some wild inflation due to it's continued war mongering and isolation of the world and it's resources. I don't think the world is going to forgive us for the whole Palestine / Ukraine thing. Look at the price of gold back in 2000 before 9/11 - $200 / ounce. It's now around $2,000 an ounce. It's a known hedge against inflation. I wish I did that earlier. Unless we get really into space mining and reach the Golden Nugget asteroid, they should continue to be a hedge. Learn about SPOT price and PREMIUMS over spot prices. If you have funds backed by physical assets there might be storage fees or maintenance fees associated eith them. Take a look at ONE GOLD and APMEX or JM BULLION.. There are others but these are some of the larger more trusted orgs for example. There are many ways to get access to these commodities.

Shop around for a good financial adviser professional tell them about your current situation and retirement goals. Be careful of higher fees. There are annual fees for these funds and percentage takes when you do withdrawl in retirement. But they can help get in diverse and larger funds and ask about Roth IRA's. (tax free withdrawls since you already paid taxes on the funds) There are usually minimums associated with certain funds.

Don't count on or put all your eggs in one basket. You're going to want to spread RISK so in case a market or sector crash or some other thing happens that royally fucks something up you won't lose all your assets in one blow.
