Hey there. I'm currently looking for a tool to create network diagrams, and I want to be able to diagram each part of my network setup. I'd like to be able to diagram switches, VMs, physical machines (even which OS is in use, and their IPs), APs, routers etc etc. I'd also really like to be able to visually show specifically which ports are connected to each other for example the router to the switch or the switch to the server. Another thing that I doubt exists is that I want to be able to specificy that a specific port on my server is plugged into the WAN port on my switch. Does anything like this exist? I'm not looking for it to automatically create the diagram, I don't need anything like that.

Even if something doesn't have all the features that I'd like I'd still really appreciate knowing about it!

Edit: I'd also appreciate the ability to document what services run on each VM / Machine.

That's dope! How much storage have you got there?

For running Windows games on Wine (or any of its variants), does using a Linux VM give an accurate representation of the "runability" of the game? in c/[email protected]

No, it won't be an accurate representation or the performance of Proton/Wine. The only way to get it to be somewhat accurate would be to do a GPU pass through, even then it would probably still be quite inaccurate.

What I would recommend is to create a partition on your drive and install a Linux distro such as Ubuntu. I wouldn't recommend installing it to an external drive as the speeds will be horribly slow, and I also wouldn't recommend trying it in a live "test it out before you install" environment. Make sure you get the correct, up to date drivers for your graphics card. I know it seems obvious but I once spent three days trying to get Minecraft to stop screen tearing and lagging and my drivers were the issue.

My final point: this is one of the most well written questions on Reddit, you thought of everything! I wish I was capable of writing such well thought out questions!
