Ooh a PieFed community! Wonder how that'll play with Mbin and Lemmy. Followed. Hope this along with the more mainstream textile hobby communities convince me to actually engage in my textile hobbies more often.

Hey, thanks for the recommendations! I have never heard of Tomboy so I went and looked it up and from the images I saw on Wikipedia it definitely looks "forever ago".

Wish Lemmy Scheduler worked with Mbin, because I found a lot of good posts for [email protected] that would best be spaced out to avoid spamming and to keep the community active for a decent period of time.

I have a feeling Nemesis is intended to be a retry at any of the other 51 weeks, but I cannot wait for stuff like people who could not beat a video game boss icing a cake with their image, or people who got sick cutting cookies in the shape of a virus.

EDIT: just realized I commented on this 7 months late. Oops.

Personal Knowledge Management and the like!

A decent explanation on what a digital garden is. Kind of at the intersection of PKMS and blogging. You can keep continually editing and it is not meant to be perfect, somewhat like an online journal you keep, something something learning in public.

I originally replied to this post with a list of digital gardens and kept updating my reply as I found more gardens. As I was making this post I found my reply did not even make it over to that person's post on their instance. So I figure I might as well make that list of digital gardens more accessible to everyone! I'll keep this updated as I find more. Feel free to post some in the comments!

I am really not the plugin type, but I might actually try to use this one!

That link punted me off my instance to sh.itjust.works, here's another one [email protected]

also [email protected]

Curiosity made me check if [email protected] existed and it does but it is not very active—I'd imagine any not-man looking for fashion communities on the Fediverse might not bite on male fashion advice lol. Now I am also wondering if just plain "fashion advice" exists, or anything for nonbinary people. Back when I was on Reddit I wasn't aware of such a subreddit, I was only aware of malefashionadvice and femalefashionadvice.

I'll be honest, I am not even qualified to advise on fashion. I am sure I am not colorblind but things like "oh, that color washes you out" or "that color flatters you" have never been something I am able to see. I feel I'm missing a lot of knowledge like this, but I get by because none of my clothes cause me trouble in daily life—no pain, unexpected restricted movement, or general discomfort; people compliment my outfits sometimes; and I'm happy with what I'm wearing.

Also, good luck with the community and I hope you find posters, as someone who is also one of the primary posters in some communities I'm in and hopes others would interact sometime.

I look for things to post on some of the communities I follow. Unfortunately I cannot commit to doing this regularly for all communities I follow.

Also, your icon need not be made by you, so even if your art skills are as mediocre as mine it is fine! Grab some Creative Commons thing, slap it on your community, and attribute it. That is what [email protected] did.

I do like fashion.

I always thought "streetwear" implied a certain kind of style that is not my cup of tea, and I am very uncomfortable posting a picture myself online, even if I censor my face out.

This is exactly why I chose Mbin: to help diversify Threadiverse software.

Title is ugly.

I figured "where you live" is basically the same thing as "home" unless you start getting into stuff like some adults living in hotels all the time because they are constantly on the move and rarely at their permanent address, or adults not considering their current residence their home because they know it's just a temporary place and they'll move soon or they do not like where they live and they don't feel welcome.

Data investigates nothing like that. Instead investigates adults specifically within 25–29 years old who live with their parents, which might be the same place as their childhood home.

Pretty image though.

Heard it described as somewhat like Obsidian before.

Latest MuseScore 3 is mean to me about saving. I have to Save As everytime and half the time it gets weird about playback afterwards so I have to close it out and reopen.

Updated to MuseScore 4 and to be honest I forget most of my grievances with it beyond a playback issue with some weird thing I did, but it also bothered me enough to run crying back into the arms of MuseScore 3 (thank you Internet Archive). It was probably something about formatting which is ironic considering all the engraving improvements they made. Considering an alternative after using MuseScore for most of my life. What do yall use?

And literally just after posting this I remembered LilyPond, which a friend told me about awhile back. Never really checked it out. It's free though!

I have been meaning to check out Mastodon and never actually fire, not knowing what instance to sign up for…

A pretty tutorial in article format. Uses plugins.

Author talks about switching from Goodreads. I also switched from Goodreads, but while we're on the Fediverse I might bring this up: I switched to https://joinbookwyrm.com/, another Fediverse thing.

I have no idea how to do this. Sometimes I pick up the yarn and it runs nicely, sometimes I end up with, say, 1 inch of length that just keeps getting shorter the more stitches I make and I must manually pull more from the ball instead of me just getting more yarn from the ball naturally with each stitch. ("1 inch" was just made up for this example, never actually measured it.) I have no idea what is affecting this. But the tension is awful and my practice piece looks like this. Please help me!
