One thing I've learnt from my 15 minute cycle commute is to assume everyone on the road is an idiot.

Drivers: happy to kill you for a second off their journey time.

Cyclists: same, as well as thinking red lights don't apply to them. They're happy to kill both themselves and their fellow cyclists and pedestrians.

Pedestrians: have a death wish. You don't need to look if you can't hear an engine.

I was on a bus once when they were still constructing the cycle superhighway in my area (a waste of time since it's just full of pedestrians), and despite the warning signs saying narrow lane, don't overtake cyclists, the driver couldn't be bothered to wait and ploughed right into the guy, he went flying. And the driver didn't even stop until a full bus stop later.

Dunno, all I was doing was trying to crop the black bars off a 1 minute video clip.

Nah, not necessarily. I'm 40 and meant to be doing prep study for the Cytech exam and I've watched a grand total of one tutorial video, but I've put in almost 100 hours on Euro Truck Sim 2.

The amount of times I've had bus drivers not able to wait 2 seconds for me to pass the bus stop, and then pull in, almost pushing me into the kerb. I really need to get a helmet cam. Black cab drivers can be bad offenders too.

The irony, right?

I bought Anti-Monopoly for my nephew, which is actually lot of fun. My nephew plays as the monopolist because of the higher rents you get, yet I always beat him as a Competitor (he wipes the floor with me in normal Monopoly though).

Joke's on you, I still use Paint Shop Pro 7.

The one and only time I tried to use kdenlive, it blackscreened my PC and when I booted back up, my Linux Mint showed in the boot menu as just Ubuntu. I went right back to Openshot.

Sorry, I forgot to put the last paragraph as a quote.

Dang, the creator put a paywall on it.

It's the same with the letter f, from what I remember it was pronounced as an f or a v, depending on what letters are before and after it, similar to lenition in Irish, or s being pronounced as both s and z in Romance languages depending on what's around it.

Here we go

https://oldenglish.info/advpronunciationguide.html

Specifically þ and ð:

þ and ð are digraphs. This means they represent the same sound, much like the modern 'th' can be voiced (in words like 'this' and 'that') or unvoiced (in words like 'thick' or 'through'). The general rule of thumb is that þ comes at the start of a word and ð comes in the middle or at the end. However, you will often see them used interchangeably, with the same word appearing on the same page spelled with both ð forms and þ forms. You can even see words like 'oþþe' spelled 'oþðe' or 'oððe' so don't overthink it.

Wasn't that a misconception and they both make either of those sounds?

In Old English, ⟨ð⟩ (called ðæt) was used interchangeably with ⟨þ⟩ to represent the Old English dental fricative phoneme /θ/ or its allophone /ð/, which exist in modern English phonology as the voiceless and voiced dental fricatives both now spelled ⟨th⟩.

Why are union subs so high in the US? As a part time worker I pay under a tenner a month, but even as a full time worker, I'd be paying £16.

I have a friend who's really into them, so I thought it would be a nice surprise if I could learn one of their songs for him. I'm just not familiar with their catalogue, so does anyone have any suggestions for where to start? My level is "advanced noob" :)

Not his first attempt, but I want to do whatever I can to encourage him to stay on the wagon this time. I don't have any experience of this, so I'd appreciate any tips from those who have been there already.

Edit 02/10: he's still clean!

This is hilarious! The mods are being compensated for their time with shiny gold stars!

This would be fine for small independent forums that don't really make a profit, but for spezzit? More fool them.

Wow, the difference in quality between the Squier and the Donner is incredible. It just feels so much smoother to play, I don't get the rattle and it just sounds and feels better overall. I'm confused by the reviews comparing the Donner to a p-bass. There's no comparison. I'm so glad I finally got my hands on my mini! It looks like a doll's toy next to the standard scale though!

Oh and added bonus, the tone dial actually does something.

I'm still having trouble offloading my Donner. I can't even trade it in.

And there's still this much battery left. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. I wasn't expecting it to still have any power left at all. I suppose with the sim out, all it was doing was powering the clock, but still! Unfortunately, I've had to retire it as my network won't connect on it anymore.

Hey, guys. I paid $30 for some tabs, but they're way too hard for me to work out. It's mostly the timing I'm struggling with (I'm used to yousician and songsterr telling me when to play a note) and my ear isn't good enough to work it out just from listening to the original song. Is there any software that can either output the audio or even just add a timing guide like songsterr? Thanks.

Hi, hoping you might have some recommendations! I just play for fun and I'm very much a beginner. I'm not going to make any money out of playing, so I don't want to spend loads on pro gear. I just want something cheap to record my bass playing onto my PC just for my own personal practice.

I've seen some guitar jack to USB cables on ebay. Are they any good?
