I guess I’m the 12th man, I run window server 2019 on bare metal. I use Hyper-V for all my services, apps, file share, backup, etc. When I need Linux, it’s in a VM. Never had an issue.

Since you’re familiar with Windows I’d suggest staying with Windows and learning Linux inside of virtual machines. They’re easy to use and get started with, plus if you break something you can be up and running again in a matter of minutes. You should have access to Hyper-V, if not look at Virtual Box or alternatives.
