If you need to grate softer cheeses (mozzarella/colby jack/etc.), popping them into the freezer for 15-30 minutes will firm them up so they shred more cleanly.

Partner and I both got our flu/covid vaccines yesterday and kindergartner is home from school today and tomorrow with hay fever or whatever kindergarten crud is going around this time. I feel you. We had a dog and a cat both lose their hearing. It was tough, ngl. We think we mitigated some of it by giving them extra cuddles and attention. The hardest part was adjusting our actions so that we didn’t unnecessarily surprise them while they were looking away or asleep.
