You are comparing apples to bean and cheese burritos here.

FTP/FTPS/SFTP aren't even close to the same thing as a fully integrated cloud solution. Sure you can use both things to simply transfer files between several devices, but that's not ~~why~~ the only reason most people use a cloud solution.

It is conceivable that there could be a cloud solution which might incorporate the use of SFTP/FTPS as an underlying protocol, but I think the go to is HTTPS for myriad reasons.

NOTE: if you are regularly using one of the FTP-like tools to sync files as part of your regular workflow, you should look into rsync

I use git to manage my compose files, manifests and config files etc.

I believe Github Actions has a docker workflow, not sure how to use it, but it might be worth looking at as a CI/CD to auto-deploy your containers once they are merged to main.

I use .gitignore for my persistent volume folders if the container will write to them.

SFP+ is the port that you insert the transceiver into. The module will likely have an LC connector for fiber. You can also get a copper SFP with an RJ45 connector. For your panel you would likely want an LC coupler.

Some other optical connector types are ST, SC and FC, although these are less common, and in some cases obsolete.
