Some automotive infotainment systems run on Linux.

IIRC, Phillips devices use Zigbee and can be controlled with stuff like Home Assistant and OpenHAB.

It's the same, "enemy is simultaneously weak and strong" rhetoric characteristic of fascism.

I, personally, haven't had much luck direct-sowing natives. I always get extremely low germination rates, then pests or weather kill the ones that do survive. Perhaps I'm buying old seeds or not buying/sowing enough. The only things I get good results from direct-sowing are annual vegetables.

What I've been doing for the past couple years is picking up truckloads of mulch or getting ChipDrops (I've waited months for ChipDrops, and when a request expires, I raise my donation amount), then sheet-mulching an area (cardboard or paper paint drop-cloth), and covering with 4"+ of chips or mulch. I then go to a local nursury, ask what plants may do well in a particular area (full dry shade, part shade, deer resistant, etc), and pick up a variety of plants. I only pick up 1 or 2 plants of a species/variety, because plants are expensive, and I want to see if they survive before investing in more. I then dig a hole in the mulch, stab holes in the sheet mulch, dump purchased soil into the holes, then plant the plants into them.

I've just started collecting seeds from some of my plants, and I should be able to divide some of my plants or try to root cuttings soon. Hoping I can avoid spending shitloads of money by just propagating what I have to fill all the mulched areas out.

Unless Harris signals clearly that she will no longer bankroll Israeli aggression against Palestinians and its regional neighbors, Netanyahu will continue to push the region toward war.

Harris is not the president, and may not ever be the president, so this will do nothing to stop Netanyahu. And I'm not sure Harris can publicly oppose Biden while working as his VP. I mean, she could, but I don't know if it's wise or what the consequences could be.

Old dual-core Pentium, lol (Haswell I think, or something from around that time), 16GB RAM. 5 16TB SATA hard disks.

In my local county (in Texas), there was a guy in jail for 5 years without trial (I think he's going in 6 years without trial, but a go-fund-me paid his bail last year), and 2 years in jail without trial is not uncommon.

IDK, looks like 48GB cloud pricing would be 0.35/hr => $255/month. Used 3090s go for $700. Two 3090s would give you 48GB of VRAM, and cost $1400 (I'm assuming you can do "model-parallel" will Llama; never tried running an LLM, but it should be possible and work well). So, the break-even point would be <6 months. Hmm, but if Severless works well, that could be pretty cheap. Would probably take a few minutes to process and load a ~48GB model every cold start though?

I've put together 2 computers the last couple years, one Intel (12th gen, fortunately) and one AMD. Both had stability issues, and I had to mess with the BIOS settings to get them stable. I actually had to under-clock the RAM on the AMD (probably had something to do with maxing-out the RAM capacity, but I still shouldn't need to under-clock, IMO). I think I'm going to get workstation-grade components the next time I need to build a computer.

I agree, under ideal conditions, parents should have the time and ability to teach their kids many things. At the same time, I believe in the "... sins of the father ...", and "... it takes a village ..." aphorisms.

ZFS on TrueNAS SCALE (enables RAID-like functionality, along with many other features).

Ext4 or NTFS on everything else, simply because it's default and I don't use any advanced features.
