I'm looking for some good bookshelf speakers to fit into this small shelf. This is a media console that sits underneath the TV in our living room. I'm thinking if I get some speakers that are fairly slim I could lay them on their side. The size of the shelf is shown in the attached picture and there's an equivalent shelf on the other side of the console. Any recommendations?

Just wondering if a decent center speaker would be better than a left and right channel as they will be so close that they are practically touching?

Good point, but actually the console is about 80in wide so there is a fair amount of separation.

Try a used Soundbar from eBay or similar. Alternatively, you might like some of the smaller powered monitor speakers. Depending upon your budget, you have Mackie (smaller but great value) through to KRK, JBL, Yamaha etc. The great thing about a set of powered speakers is that you can ditch the amp and buy a small powered sub if that suits. Setup would be Source - DAC - Speakers. I have a small room and my setup is Old PC box as source (could be a mobile phone / tablet with USB out), Topping E50 DAC (from eBay) and JBL 305P II powered speakers, also from eBay. Old Warfefedale SW150 powered sub from a car boot sale. Who lot cost £350. I got £75 for my old NAD 3020i amp sold on Facebook.

this might be a long shot to find but some koss m80 would fit perfectly in it, and from experience they have a decent sound

Thanks for the recommendation! Why do you say they're a long shot?

They're starting to get pretty vintage

Gotcha, thanks. Looks like some are available on Ebay.
