Have you cleaned more than just the glass? There is a process to follow cleaning other stuff in the scanner. I also cleaned my pictures with 99 percent alcohol. You tube video on cleaning the scanner may be helpful.

We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Yes, I even pulled it completely apart and reassembled. I also use alcohol.
I would be curious to see scanned photo of this issue.
I know there are kits available that contain new rollers.
What about scanning a picture that you have allready successfully scanned and making the two available for comparisons.
