As an outsider, I hope Palmeiras or Flamengo win.

It's incredible how Botafogo fucked up the title. They could very well end up in 6. place.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They had the best 1st half of the league in history and are now having the second worst 2nd half only ahead of the already relegated America MG.

Goias also. 47 points in the first half and now 14 points from 15 😬

How did botafogo actual fuck the tittle? Werent' they like 12+ ahead at some point? Unreal bottlejob

They lost Luis Castro (who managed them in the first half of the season) to Al Nassr, Bruno Lage came in and they started to implode afterwards, he has been sacked already, but the matches they lost with him were the most crucial ones.

This is the problem with Portuguese managers, they use Brazil as a stepping stone. Of course Brazil have a good championship, is the same language (Portuguese) and they pay good money compared to most teams in Portugal outside the big 4 (Porto, Braga, Sporting and Benfica). Any Brazil team need to put a huge release clause because of this.

Lost the long term coach and now they are playing under their 5th coach in the league.

is it always 4 teams relegation?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

yeah it's brutal

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Always has been 🌏👨‍🚀🔫👨‍🚀🌌

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yes. It’s a lot better than only relegating 3 teams.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

My hot take is that there should be 6 teams relegated. So that some teams play in the Sul Americana while in Serie B.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well, teams can actually play in Libertadores whilst in Serie B by winning Copa do Brasil. Happened to Palmeiras once.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Santo André and Paulista won Copa do Brasil in 2004 and 2005. Both was Série B teams at time.

All time choke by Botafogo

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

And we have about 7 teams fighting for a relegation spot too.

Dale gremio!

Never even heard of Bratangino

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They are an old kinda traditional club that got bought and became a new red bull bitch
Nothing against them, they just have a very small fanbase but are very well-managed. They had a very good football director that just signed with Monaco

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

...and a very good manager. I bet Palmeiras go for him if Abel leave.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

? Are you talking about the guy who flopped everywhere except Bragantino in the past decade

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Red bull bulshit

My porreta 😭

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

How an 8th place team managed to win the copa is beyond me.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They sacrificed games in the league to rest players for the Libertadores. Almost every team does it.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yep. And they dont give a shit about the brazilian league right now.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It's pretty common for the teams who go further into the Libertadores to sacrifice the Brazilian League since our calendar is insane and most teams don't have enough players to keep the same level on both competitions. Palmeiras in 2021 finished 7th for example and Flamengo last year finished 20 points behind the winner

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Brazilian teams that go far in the Cups end up playing around 70 games or even more.

Brazil is also a really big country and most clubs can't afford to have a big squad filled with quality players so they end up focusing in one competition when they aren't close to winning the league title.

3 points in the last 21 is some insanely bad form, what the hell happened to Botafogo...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Botafogo have somehow connived to still not win in 5. Wow

Showing solidarity with Union Berlin.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Damn, I was really hoping for Botafogo to win. They had such a nice lead

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Botafogo is literally me in Football Manager

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

We in need for a Bottle Job Cup.

Arsenal, Botafogo, BVB, you can put Marinos there too...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Damn Gremio has some shit defense for a team in the title race.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

We had the best defence players some years ago, when Kannemann (not playing well anymore), Geromel (retiring) and Grohe (transfered) were playing together. Today is almost just Suarez playing alone, he is trully carrying the team. One of the best attack and the worst defence in Brasileirão.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Suarez effect innit? See Liverpool in 13/14...

Crazy thing
