Messi, no words. Also, shout out to R9. The man was a monster, and still a big what if story due to the knee injury.

Not exactly top right, but still

Idk why but harry kane is surprising.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

He led the league in goals and assists one time, and always is scoring, not too surprising he's here imo.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I think he meant it's surprising that Kane isn't higher up that list.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Him making this list in spite of spending almost his entire career at a B-tier top team is impressive. Put him at prime Barca or City and his numbers would be even higher.

Kylian and Haaland might well break all time goalscoring record with the number of games increasing.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Hope so, I think they will have more chances. As football is evolving, hope they create more new records for higher quality football

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

More records ≠ higher quality football

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Sure, but advancements in sports medicine, sports psychology, nutrition, and tactics, means the quality of football is forever increasing

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Those are some damn juicy stats holy s

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (3 children)

3 of top 4 were on a team together and they didn't even sniff a Champions League title. Strong statement on individuals not winning trophies in world football.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

That front 3 would not have won the UCL even with a bald manager of your choice with prime Milan backline and the best 3 work horse CMs of your choice + every refree decision going your way. Not in today's football anyway.

MNM occupy same spaces when you let them loose. This is like Cancelo x Grealish problem but on steriods.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

It took me a full minute to figure out wtf you meant. “Mbappe was never in barca..? And barca won CL titles..?Huh? OOOOH YEAHHhh, PSG…”

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Exact same thing happened to me. It's surprising how playing for a team like that really does feel a bit like wasted time for a lot of players. Not in terms of money but just general relevance.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Man if Mbappe had gone to Madrid two years ago he'd be so fucking scary

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Same. Messi at PSG still feels like a fever dream.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

3 in top 7 won the UCL together 🥹

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

All 3 of MSN were in their prime at the time, while Messi and Neymar were already past their prime when they played together with Mbappé at PSG. And 2015 Barca had a much better midfield than 2022 PSG.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I feel like this gets posted once a week

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Was just about to say that lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I get these are straight stastics but they should be weighed a little differently. Ronaldo should be #2 considering the insane numbers he has in each category. Fuck math and ratios and shit lol

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I am not sure what your objection is here, normalizing per matches played is exactly the way to make this fair.

It might be a bit better if the ratio was G+A per minute rather than per game, or removing penalties (since not all the players here were penalty-takers for all or even any of their teams).

What would you prefer?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Keeping that ratio in over 1000 games is crazy

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Yeah Google “Benzema 15” for more info on this.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

1200 and 1100 goal involvement are fucking freak numbers man

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

That's pretty close to the order in which I'd rate them.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I had really underestimated cristiano's assists

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Most people do. It's another part of his game that get's erased because of the insanity of the guy he's compared to.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

I'd argue having a lower ratio is indeed better to determine the more rounded player

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Interesting - that’s almost my list of the most talented players of the 21st century in exact order, except Mbappe is lower and where the hell is Thierry Henry

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Crazy to imagine that everyone bar Mbappe managed to achieve numbers like these in non-farmers leagues. Respect

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

Crazy how a league ranked number 5 on the entire planet is considered farmers league

[–] [email protected] 1 points 10 months ago

It’s been the 5th best league for a long time, it’s not massively out from the Bundesliga either. Both are easier to score leagues.
