Home automation is the residential extension of building automation.

It is automation of the home, housework or household activity.

Home automation may include centralized control of lighting, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), appliances, security locks of gates and doors and other systems, to provide improved convenience, comfort, energy efficiency and security.

Question about wiring 3-way switch (alien.top)

I recently purchased a few Meross 3-way switches which require a neutral wire.

I’ve included a picture of one of my 3-way switch boxes. I’ve labeled the wires with how they were attached to the previous dumb switch.

This 3 way is powering an outlet, if that makes a difference. House built in the early 80s.

I can figure out the common/t1/t2. But I’m unsure what to use as the neutral, can I just hook it to the two black wires, or the one white that is capped off and seemingly doing nothing?

White was connected to the switch?! Typically white is just passing thru the box. Switch typically connects to two blacks and one red; line, load and traveler. I don't even see a taped wire indicator for alt hot. I'd suggest an electrician since you're here asking. There are allowed wiring scenarios that are not as typical. Electricians know stuff.

Yeah one of them was, seems like it’s used as one of the travellers. As I commented above I’ll just get an electrician to come in. Clearly this one’s too wonky for my diy skills.

Color is just for code. Just hook everything up like it was and wire nut your neutral pig tail from your smart switch to the neutral in the box. (The white wire that was capped off in your box).

I ended up trying this just now and everything works as expected. Thanks dude I just needed a little confidence lol.
