So what happens to the other guy that was just appointed? Does his full contract/salary get paid out even though he was only there a couple days?

Was the reason for firing ever given? I've only heard speculation. Sounds like it'll just stay secret.
The board of director has successfully been replaced by ChatGPT-5 and hired back Sam Altman, with the machine praising the former-CEO : "beep bop".
So he seems to have irked the American chipmakers.
I am guessing that his first announcement post reiteration will be that this project is being dropped.

I'm still confused. Satya announced to all of MSFT internal that Sam was hired on to run their AI research division.
So is Sam still doing that while also being CEO of OpenAI?

lol outdated info, he joined Microsoft.
I mean, when 70% of your company signs an open letter saying they would walk and when Microsoft saying they would hire every single person and probably give Sam anything he wanted, OpenAI obviously had to decide if it wanted to stay relevant or not.
Ousting your CEO is one thing, but replacing him with a loser former co founder of Twitch is so many red flags on the character and expertise of the board.
Sam is back, and has a new board. More importantly, he has everyone's attention.
I really wonder what internal models openAI has. I was one of the skeptics when it first came out, but I've been using gpt4 recently and I'm way more of a believer. What they have achieved and improved in 1 year is incredible.
ChatGPT schizophrenia.

The salary increase from his new contract must be enormous. He can more or less ask for anything and they have to say yes.
