Aegisub is the software we use.

I have a tutorial here that will help you get the software set up and go over some basic keybinds and techniques: https://youtu.be/B1XSXbi_ai4?si=G_bCZx8n6foPSKuM

And then we have a subbing discord channel and spreadsheet where we help each other out and keep track of what everyone is working on. Feel free to DM me if you'd like to join there ヽ(´ー`)ノ

Good for you. I always used to use Aegisub and it's a bit of a learning curve but when you're in the groove it's not too bad. Read up on it a bit and maybe good headphone may help, which i never used. I used to account about one hour per 5 minutes of video to typeset i think it was, obviously some things are wordier than others though. Then i used to spend about the same time again going over the translation when it was done for QC since i liked to add effects and be sharp with my timing. Good luck!
