Data Hoarder

We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time (tm) ). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.

I got dual ST8000NM000A-2KE101 and they are raid 1

I did every kind of test and they all passes

But the disks are dmn slow

Keep doing active time 100% all the time for example when entering a folder. I just keep waiting forever for folder to open. I tried even with disabling search index entirely

I am using Windows 10 and Z690 UD DDR4

Should I RMA disks? What else disk you suggest to purchase? I need to use as Raid 1

Thank you so much

I tried different ports and different cables. Didn't fix the problem. Got 2 other sata disks and they don't have this issue.

The read and seek error rates appear to be zero. Any errors would be recorded in the top 4 digits. Different manufacturers use the fields differently.

Not sure about command timeout off the top of my head

The ultraDMA CRC actually looks bad on the 1st one I think.

Check some real documentation for seagate though to know what the fields mean

good answer

how do we find which digits are actually being used any ideas?
