i stopped when seti@home ended, had a nice server running for them on and off for years. kinda miss it, but no longer have a server, just the stupid 42u rack....
Yes during winter when we need to heat anyway, but the extra energy cost (as seen through the energy meter) is more than 200โฌ per year here in belgium. I can't justify that cost right now.
1st time I've heard of this. Used to donate time to the SETI project but dropped out over time. I think I'm going to contribute to BOINC this time.

I have been crunching BOINC for years. Very fun to be involved with and helps heat my apartment in winter.
i did it for years, you can limit how much the program uses of your computer (ex. limit max 30% cpu usage), so its not running full out all the time. I used it on my server for a long time too, they had it setup nice. it was one of the few programs that server ran that actually used all 32 cores on both processors.
