Title. How early (or not) would you buy your components for the "bring your own" part of the FW? I went for as many as I could - didn't actually save me as much as I thought, as the FW is still a very expensive piece of tech, but even so, let's consider it an investment - certainly a better one than the [unspeakable brand starting with D] I got ages ago which was impossible to fix/upgrade.

The estimate is "Q2", which is in fact a large window, and my concern is buying stuff too early will lead to nasty surprises and unability to return potentially faulty items. On the other hand, black friday/cyber monday is around the corner. What would you recommend?

I bought my SSD directly from Samsung. Same price as everywhere else, free delivery, and due to arrive in half the time of Amazon.

Same. I got some deals from Delta Skymiles Shopping portal and got 5 milesper dollar spent if direct from samsung. I stopped trusting Amazon, since there are some reporting fake products.
