Synopsis:

  • Peter Knäbel has informed the club he'll not be extending his contract which is expiring this upcoming summer.

  • The club has been unwilling to extend his contract, and there's even a chance for an early departure.

  • Peter Knäbel has announced "he would like to spend more time with his family", and the club thanks his work for helping Schalke 04 stave off sporting and financial relegation back in 2021.

  • Joined the club in 2018 as part of sporting and youth development, he became sporting general in February 2021 when relegation was apparent.

  • Schalke 04 currently sit 16th in 2. Liga in relegation playoff zone.
