Downtime and Update to Lemmy 0.19 Prerelease (possumpat.io)

Hey everyone, just a quick update on the downtime earlier this morning.

CSAM was posted to a community we federate with by a user from kbin.cafe, so I've taken the following actions:

Purged that user and related media upload links from our database.
Defederated from kbin.cafe, as their admin seems to have mostly abandoned the site.
Upgraded to the release candidate of Lemmy 0.19, since it has new admin/moderation features that'll make handling cases like this easier in the future.

On the bright side, Lemmy 0.19 has some fancy new performance improvements and improved post ranking options! Stay tuned for a full feature overview soon from the Lemmy project folks.

Thanks for keeping us up to date! My token in the Jerboa app expired around that time I think and now I can't log into that app again with that account, it crashes after submitting my credentials. Other Lemmy instances work fine. Does anyone else has that problem?

Yes! I have the same problem (that I was just coming here to write about) using Sync for Lemmy. The same thing is also happening to my spouse, who also has an account on possumpat.io

Any thoughts, @[email protected]?

Unfortunately, it looks like both Sync and Jerboa do not yet support the backend changes made in version 0.19 🙁

I didn't really want to upgrade to 0.19-rc yet because I was worried that something like this would happen, but the CSAM/Moderation problem has come up often enough that I felt it was safer to have the better moderation tools and risk some breakage.

Hopefully Sync and Jerboa will be updated soon, as 0.19 should have it's full release any day now. If you're willing to try some other mobile apps in the meantime, here are some that are already 0.19 compatible:

I'm having a weird issue where I create a post with an image from imgur and I can see it but I don't think anyone else can, I tried posting from my other account as well and that account couldn't see their own post but I could see it with my community mod account but it had no upvotes or anything so I assume no one else can see it either
