Hey Everyone,

This may seem like a stupid question, but I'm going to go ahead and ask it anyway.

I just bought a bunch of home lab equipment, including 3x Cisco 3750x-48T-S Layer 3 Switches.

When they arrive, I want to configure VTY lines on them so that I can SSH in when labbing, so that I don't have to console cable my way into them every time I want to use them.

Here's my question, how do I physically connect these devices in order to achieve this?

Am I correct in thinking that after I console into the switches and configure the VTY lines for each of them, I could just connect an Ethernet cable from my desktop computer's NIC, to SW1, and then simply connect two additional cables, one that goes from SW1 to SW2 and then another from SW1 to SW3?

Would this allow me to have SSH access to SW2 and SW3 from my desktop computer by accessing them through SW1?

Forgive my ignorance, this is my first time ever setting up VTY lines with physical hardware, I've only practiced this previously in virtual lab environments like packet tracer.

Any help and tips are genuinely really appreciated!

This subreddit is phenomenal and the community here is awesome.

Thanks in advance and I hope you're all well,

Warmly,

Pete
